Report: Amtrak's Growing But Bleeding Money On Long Trips {Gadling}

Mar 19th 2013 9:07PM In 2010 I embarked on a road trip from New York City to New Orleans using Greyhound Buses, and despite the many horror stories online, had an incident free trip. In 2012 I boarded Amtrak trains for trips between Washington D.C. and Savannah, GA, and again for a second trip between New Orleans and Tucson, AZ. I was amazed at how cheap the Amtrak tickets were in comparison to the bus ticket prices. Needless to say there was not comparison between riding buses on long trips and riding the trains. On my next visit to America, I again hope to make extended journeys across the country, and I can assure you I will be using Amtrak as much as possible. Amtrak - one of the hidden gems of long distance travel.

Things you won't see in Paris this holiday season: beggars {Gadling}

Dec 18th 2011 5:12AM Are the authorities actually talking about real beggars, or are they referring to the numerous scammers who pretend to be mute and collect money for their fake charitable organisations; or the 'gold ring' scammers; or 'three card monty' card sharks; or any number of other scammers?

I had no trouble at all with homeless beggars during my 10 night stay in Paris last year, but the scammers were a real pain in the neck.

4 free street fairs to check out this weekend in New York {Gadling}

Nov 8th 2011 7:59PM Thanks for the info, but I'm confused. Aren't street fairs 'free' by their very nature? I don't know of any street fairs that charge an entry fee. Perhaps you could enlighten readers about those that do. Otherwise using the word 'free' is superfluous - unless of course you are just trying to increase your SEO hit rate.
