Kiwi Cool: Saving Money While Traveling In New Zealand {Gadling}

Sep 10th 2012 8:33PM I'll second the McDonald's WiFi - they're everywhere. Also, many of the libraries have free access. Just bring your pad or laptop, sit in the comfy lounge area, and log on.
By all means, rent a car if you can. There are just so many things to see and do that are slightly off the beaten path. Having said that, when in the city, park it and walk. You'll discover so much you'd miss otherwise.
And do check out the motels. Even if they are part of a chain, the owner/operators are on premise and they'll do everything they can to make sure you have a great stay.

Kiwi Cool: New Zealand For The Un-Adventurous {Gadling}

Sep 6th 2012 9:14PM Having been to NZ 4 or 5 times over the last decade, going on the wildlife tours and walks and cruises is the best reason to go. Having said that, the variety of fascinating museums and other urban activities run a close second. Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin have great museums. Blenheim, Nelson and Otago have unbelievably tasty and inexpensive wines. Craft cheeses , beers and chocolates are everywhere. I look forward to reading of your adventures. And I have been "Zorbing" in Rotorua. Try everything once.
