Galley Gossip: Can Passengers View Pornography on the Airplane? {Gadling}

Jan 13th 2013 7:54PM On Delta flights, they include episodes of "The Borgias" on the inflight entertainment. These include very risque scenes, as well as nudity and plenty of violence. This is provided by the airline, so using that as a yardstick, Game of Thrones should be acceptable. That being said - I had the same sense of embarassment when watching episodes on the plane on my tablet. I felt the need to cover the screen with both hands so my neighbor couldn't see it.

Nov 6th 2012 11:05AM That airport has a 400' long displaced threshold, and that road looks to be about 50' from the start of the pavement. Given a "normal" glidepath, that means the pilot should have been 15' in the air crossing the road, if he intended to land on brick one. Since an SUV is only about 6' tall, that's a problem. He was intending to land where he shouldn't. Further, this airport actually has restrictions published that require a somewhat steeper descent than normal; he should have been higher. That being said, there's no excuse for the SUV ignoring the stop sign and driving into harm's way, but the pilot, familiar with that airport as he was, should have also been looking at the road to insure his own safety. Yes, he was a student pilot, but he should have been taught a little more situational awareness and risk assessment to understand likely scenarios - especially he should have been looking after the first car drove across his flight path!

Cockpit Chronicles: A 'new' pilot's first trip on the line {Gadling}

Cockpit Chronicles: One long date with Hurricane Irene {Gadling}

Sep 6th 2011 10:20PM So, quick question. If the ILS was NOTAM'd out, what were you doing trying to fly the glideslope? If the LOC was still in service, but the glideslope was OTS, you could still fly a non-precision approach, but that's not what you described here. So which was it? Did you fly an ILS that was NOTAM'd OTS, which would be illegal; or were you wrong, and the ILS was in service, and this was not as dramatic as you make it out to be?

Having flown a few ILS and PAR approaches to minimums, that truly sucks. Were you just trying to make this seem adventurous?
