Controversy rages as Pompeii continues to crumble {Gadling}

Jul 2nd 2011 1:00PM Did you know that in Latin there isn´t even a word for volcano. The inhabitants of Pompeii had no idea what was going to happen as they didn´t even know what a volcano was or what it could do.

The eruption also only took 24 hours from beginning to end - not much warning and not much time to get out of the way.
