For example: If you are looking forward to say, skiing in NY, perhaps you should consider going in the winter, etc. I lived in NY for 6 years while in college. NYC is not a city I'd raise a family in on an average budget, but is DEFINITELY worth seeing with your own eyes. Happy Travels!
