Jul 23rd 2011 7:51PM To Timber1647--A Republican Congress was the reason the budget got better. Along with a surplus so generously given to President Bush he also inherited a recession, the final collapse of the DotCom era, along with the Eron/Wordlcom scandals, 9/11, Katrina, Afghanistan and Iraq. While these things all contributed to a hit on our economy some how President Bush was able to create an economic enviroment that for all of 2006-2007 this country enjoyed a 4.6 unemployment rate. Things went south because of lack of oversight by the Federal Reserve and Barney Franks and Chris Dodds Housing and Finance committies(and all the sub committies). As far back as 2003 President Bush was asking these guys to take a closer look at Freddie and Fannie. They chose not to. Barney Franks went before some committee and stated back in early 2007 that there was nothing wrong with the housing market, by the middle of 2007 the market was in a downward spiral. Again thanks for the surplus.

Nov 10th 2010 5:01PM Krys---To say the only reason Mr. Bush had a good a economy was because of Mr. Clinton is very misleading. Mr. Bush also had a recession laid in his lap. He also had to deal with the dot.com implosion, enron and world com, 9/11 and Katrina (which by the way was made much worse because of an incompetent Mayor and Governor). How frustrated Mr. Bush must have been when he could not get people to listen to him when it came to Freddie and Frannie. You need to look a little deeper into what Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and their committees and sub-committees were doing before the melt down. The committees put in place by our Government are supposed to be the eyes and ears of the sitting President and more importantly the American People. For the people who continue to berate the former Administration for everything that is wrong today tells me you either don't want the facts or your in denile for your decision to vote for this current Administration, which has pretty much confused most of the Western Powers.(except for our enemies who are more active than ever)

Three senarios could be in play here, who ever wrote his speech was not informed, the summary they were given was inaccurate or they lied. That's the problem with relying on the tele prompter the person reading it is doing just that, reading it. You better hope the facts are facts cause it will come back and bite you in the butt if there not.

What person in their right mind would add billions of dollars to an already struggling economy when there is already a vehicle in place to handle enemy combatants. This makes no sense to me. To protect these murderers of innocent mothers, fathers and children under OUR constitution is close to insanity. Weber is correct when he says people tend to tune to the media that best represents their views but some of us are willing to tune to a media outlet that also expresses views we don't agree with. Keep it up Fox News. Those of you who refuse to turn the channel once in awhile are the ones who don't want to hear the alternatives probably because your world is not equipped for the reality of the whole world, not just ours.

Your two incompetentent leaders of the housing and finance committees Frank and Dodd dropped the ball. You explain to me how these two committees and all the sub-committees missed the unhealthly trends that were being displayed. The baloney of de-regulation caused this is just that, baloney. De-regulation does not mean you guit paying attention or ignore. Presidents do not do a very good job when they micro-manage everything, thats why we put committees together, they are supposed to be the eyes and ears for not only the President but for the American people. Mr. Bush warned the Congress back in 2003 that something did not seem right, several others also rang a warning bell after that. As I see it Frank and Dodd either chose to ignore the warnings or were to incompetent to respond, or by the time they realized the collapse was going to happen they figured saying nothing would put the spot light on the President.

Dec 12th 2009 10:22PM Here's a novel idea, why not put about 1000 struggling actors to work instead of paying any one person 100's of millions of dollars to hock their over priced products. I can honestly say I have never bought anything because some over paid sports guy indorsed it. Please note those 1000 struggling actors account for one indorsement. I am not involved in any way with acting or have any influence in the business. I just feel it's wrong to pay anyone that kind of money just because they excell at some sort of sport. Give the common people a chance, most of the sports guys that you have chosen to indorse already make millions of dollars a year for doing nothing more being good at playing a game. Whats wrong with America people???

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were in charge of the two committees that actually caused the worlds almost economic collapse. Why is it you Bush haters don't want to grill these two incompetents. What the heck were they doing while this problem kept building. Bush warned the Congress back in 2003 to take a look at these growing concerns, many others after 2003 also warned them. Why did Barney and Chris ignore the warnings??? No President micro manages, he must depend on competent leaders of the various committees. Democrats were in charge of these committees. What happened?
