Travel Photo Tips: using a 50mm F1.4 lens to redefine low-light shooting {Gadling}

Feb 20th 2011 1:32AM Yes, we tried it out recently. My partner and I were watching a cultural show last week with my EF 17-40mm f/4L USM mounted on my EOS 50D and my partner had a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 mounted on his EOS 450D. He was experiencing difficulty in capturing flashless shots even at ISO 1600. I advised him to switch to aperture 1.4 and ISO 800 on AV mode. He returned few moments later excited that he got all the shots he wanted at high speed following the switch.

Of course I got my shots at ISO 2500 with my widest aperture i.e., f/4. We both are hobbyists so, the mission was great fun.
