Jan 27th 2011 8:37AM I just came back from an amazing trip to Marrakech highlighted mainly by the sahara-magic.com with Hassan (I went on the 3 day 2 night excursion). My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to ride with Hassan that day and we shared the vehicle with two other lovely ladies from New Zealand. Although it was a lengthy drive, it didn't feel like it at all! Hassan stopped at all the right places so we could take pictures and absorb the magnificent views. He also offered excellent facts and info about the sites we were seeing. He answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable about his surroundings. The camel trek into the desert was definitely amazing. We travelled into the desert for sunset and in the morning, travelled out of the desert for sunrise! I wasn't expecting the two camel rides actually, so it was an added bonus. Also, the hotel stop and restaurants for lunch were even better than expected - extremely authentic with great food! And I can't forget having lunch at Omar's family home - it was so sweet of him to invite us all in! We were able to meet his brother and his little nephew and niece who were adorable! What a great experience to see how he lives...in a village only 15 mins drive from the Sahara desert! I definitely recommend this experience and urge everyone to go if they are planning a holiday to Marrakech. It was nice to have a break from the craziness of the city and see the beauty of North Africa...no better way to do it than a road trip! Don't worry about the Western Union thing (for the deposit) - I was worried myself, but everything turned out fine! Of course there's that damn service charge, but what can you do! Unfortunately other methods of payment don't get to Omar fast enough. It's an experience of a lifetime (I've never written a review on trip advisor before, but this trip really compelled me to do it!), so don't miss it!
