Jan 24th 2011 9:50PM I remember reading a few years ago that drinking white wine (and to a much lesser extent, red wine) with food significantly reduces your chances of developing food poisoning. Something about the acidity of the wine.
Of course it's probably unlikely that you'll be able to get a glass of wine anywhere street food is on offer - but perhaps other acidic and/or alcoholic beverages would be available?
I am yogurt/kefir/buttermilk believer, too.
