Jan 13th 2011 2:22PM I agree. I have lived part-time in New Zealand for 19 years, and it is NOT customary to tip. While some forms of tipping have spread to Auckland and Queenstown because of foreign tourists who do not know the customs, tipping is not expected at all throughout most of the country. In fact, a few years ago a diner's tip was returned by the restaurant owner, who said "You're not starting that rubbish here!" or something like that.
