Word for the Travel Wise (11/07/06) {Gadling}

Nov 20th 2006 9:30AM Someone told me one of the richest women in the world is Nigerian. I think she's some kind of an oil tycoon. From what I understand there is a huge income gap in Nigeria. The rich are very rich, and the poor are very poor. How do you say "stand up"? :)

Photo of the Day (11/7/2006) {Gadling}

Nov 20th 2006 8:39AM It's a beatiful picture. But it makes me all the more hydrophobic. I can't bear the thought of big sea creatures lurking beneath that hypnotic shot of the ocean.It can pass for both sunrise and sunset. I can imagine hearing a thundering voice "Let there be...fishies?"

Watch your TIVO from Abroad {Gadling}

Nov 20th 2006 12:46AM I'm ashamed to admit that I never knew about this. I don't think it's a good thing for vacationers. The point of going on vacation is to get away from it all...and that includes your TiVo. It's good for people who have specific shows that they always watch out for. I know it's hard to catch up on missed episodes. So many shows...so little time.

Nov 20th 2006 12:45AM I would love to learn arabic. But I find it too difficult. But I really like the sound of their words. One of the best hotels in the world I think is the Emirates hotel. It's in Dubai I think. I'm not sure though. It looks like something you would see in a dream. It's paradise.

Microsoft's Windows Vista pricing strategy {BloggingStocks}

Nov 16th 2006 2:18PM This is why more and more people have shifted to Linux. Why pay for something you can get for free?
I think this is an act of desperation. With these ridiculous prices they hope to keep the image that
they are the best and therefore worthy of these prices. I think Microsoft needs a reality check. Their
snubbishness has lost its appeal.

MySpace in a Fickle Space {BloggingStocks}

Nov 16th 2006 2:17PM Oh I think Myspace will still be around for a long time. Teenagers like to express themselves and in that aspect, myspace has been a powerful medium. It's true that there are many creepy people out there, but you have a choice of what information you would like to share the viewers. Personally I like friendster more. They have more safety features and more user-friendly.

Hell.com hath no buyers {BloggingStocks}

Nov 16th 2006 2:17PM Fruity Helmet Cat is a genius! I mean, nobody wants to go to hell. But for surem we have some people in mind whom we want to go to hell. There could be different sections. There could be CEO section, and a politician's section, and celebrity section...and so on. And people could state reasons why these people should go to hell. And people can register and vote if they agree with every statment given and tally the votes...and the over-all percentage of votes will decide who should stay in hell! ;D I nominate Dubya for being so annoying.

Tiffany: Too many blue boxes {BloggingStocks}

Nov 16th 2006 3:45AM I think Tiffany is doomed to fall. They have become too accessible. Before, Tiffany appealed to their consumers because of their "exclusivity". But now, it seems like anyone can sport a tiffany ring (engagement rings were ther most in demand). People want to feel special..and that was how Tiffany made them feel. But now that most everyone can have their blue box, it doesn't seem so special anymore. A bit snubbish? Yes. But that's the reality of it.

Target recalls pumpkin kits {BloggingStocks}

Nov 16th 2006 3:43AM I think it should be for kids 5 and up. I don't understand how these potatoheads can overlook that. I guess they were too confident being that Mr. Potatohead has been since way back when marbles were still the fad. Nowadays, it's not about sentimentality anymore. Parents don't care much
for sharing with their kids what they enjoyed when they were kids. It's about safety. Nobody wants to go rushing to the hospital in the middle of the night just because their kid has swallowed a plastic ear whatever removable body parts this potatohead has.

Apple avoids NASDAQ delisting {BloggingStocks}

Nov 16th 2006 3:42AM I don't see Apple being delisted soon. They have had much success recently. Sales have gone up and apple is very much back in the game. What with iPOD alone, they take the lead in that one. Not even Microsoft's Zune can take the throne from Apple's iPOd. It will be along time before something new comes up that will outshine Apple.
