Cruise Line Gives Away a 'Cruise A Day' on Facebook {AOL Travel News}
Dec 8th 2010 2:25PM We just returned from an MSC cruise in the Mediterranean. We are experienced cruisers on several lines and this is far and away the worst cruise ever. The ports of call were what enticed us to go. Little did we know that MSC stands for Mediterranean Shipping Company. Their shipping containers can be seen in many ports. Apparently their diversion into cruises is fairly new, and they seemed to think that passengers were just cargo. They didn't seem to take any cues in how to do things from the established cruise lines. The list of problems we had, along with the 98 other folks in our group, goes on and on, but suffice it to say that the food was mediocre, in the buffet it was always just luke warm, no omelette stations, just premade sunnyside up eggs and premade omelettes (dry folded over eggs with no fillings or toppings); getting coffee except at breakfast and somewhat at lunch time was impossible unless you wanted to pay for a premium cup.
An expensive excursion to the Pyramids was ruined by poor planning. We were supposed to leave the ship at 9 AM, did not leave the parking lot until 1215, got to Cairo just before dusk and saw the Pyramids on in the dark. It was nearly midnight before we got back to the ship. The Italians on board were mutinous after that and staged mini-riots and sit down strikes.
We will never cruise with them again, and will do whatever we can to discourage others from doing so.
