Since I was 30 years old, I didn't "belong" to my father and he didn't have the right to give me to my husband so HE could own me. I didn't use "I now pronounce you man and wife" either, as in man and cow, man and dog, man and car, man and house, man and wife. Phooey. Husband and Wife, pls.

May 12th 2010 10:14PM You CANNOT, repeat CANNOT, throw money at something and expect it to change attitudes. Respect is earned, not bought, not legislated. It is perfectly normal for people of different races to be wary of each other. The most racist folks I know are anything other than white. Also, thanks to the media for continually whipping up feelings of victimazation in this land where opportunity is still open to anyone.

May 1st 2010 11:33PM I am childless by choice. Why? Because when I was of child bearing age, I was not particularly emotionally stable, didn't have any money, and was married to a man who turned out to be extremely violent. Having a child would have been completely irresponsible. Yeah, it's lonely sometimes, but I absolutely know I made the right decision. By the way, I have certainly enjoyed paying huge taxes so that those of you with children are able to dump them at schools that fail to educate but DO take them off your hands. You're welcome.
