Nov 4th 2010 4:50PM My fitted sheets always wear out before the top sheets. I have used the top sheets to make another fitted sheet by laying it on the bare mattress, pinning the corners so that I can sew the seams there, cutting new hems to fit, sewing them and then sewing elastic around the corners to make a good fit.
They also can be cut down and sewn into new pillowcases.
Oct 18th 2010 11:51AM dental floss, or better yet, dental floss tape can be used to tie things together, very strong and cannot be torn. Unwaxed dental floss makes a good temporary clothesline too.
Oct 18th 2010 11:48AM I bought leopard-print duct tape and wrapped the plastic handles of my suitcases and put a strip on the bottom of each one so I could spot my suitcases easily no matter which way they are laying on the luggage conveyer belt. Plus the leopard print livens up my solid black and dark brown suitcases.

Oct 18th 2010 11:37AM I've done this with a microfiber raincoat (wrinkles smooth out after unpacking) and it is amazing how it can flatten out and fit inside of a carry-on bag very easily. Used a 2-gallon Ziploc bag.
