Aug 9th 2007 3:37PM I cant believe all these comments that people leave on stories like this. It always comes down to race. And this story has nothing to do with race. If it were Mark McGwire instead of Barry Bonds, people would say the same thing. How dare you people boil this down to color. Its not about WHO he is its about WHAT hes done and the credit he is receiving for overcoming someone who, with only his blood, sweat & tears, set the record 33 years ago!

you people who want to argue racism dont even understand the game, you just want to use this to satisfy your personal vendettas created by your own closed minds. This event goes against everything baseball stands for. Baseball is one of the most pure American traditions. Anyone who has ever recited the lines "build it and they will come" or "theres no crying in baseball" or anyone who has stood on a field, closed their eyes and heard the crowd and felt the spirit of every player whos ever played there can attest that baseball isnt just a game, its a symbol of freedom, the pursuit of happiness. And anyone who takes away from the purity and the sanctity of the game should be ashamed of themselves. Because the spirit of baseball is more than just a record or a million dollar contract. And for every young kid out there who has a dream, who believes, well, I wish they had the heroes of yesterday because the heroes of today only have a bottom line, no matter what color they are.

Nov 6th 2006 4:25PM Sheila, maybe that fat thats stuck around your belly is from stress. If you've tried everything else and it still hasnt helped, try to reduce your stress. Also, its good to do sit ups or crunchies, these help build muscle and muscle burns more fat. But, cardio is a key element to burn the fat that is already there. Muscle helps in preventing fat from coming back.

Nov 6th 2006 4:20PM Calories are what your body burns off first. All day, you burn off calories. You burn calories just thinking! think of calories as little energy packets you give yourself to keep going all day. And calories get a bad rap sometimes because people assocaite them with fat; however, its not the calories that do you in, its the other items in the food that play a damaging role (like sugars, fats, etc). But foods lower in calories will usually have fewer of those other damaging elements.

So, calories are not a bad thing but if you consume too many, they become problematic and you gain weight. You lose weight when you count calories because once your body has burned off all the calories, then it naturally starts to burn off fat, then after fat it starts to burn off muscle. Because of this, it is good to have a healthy balanced diet. You need some calories just like you need some fats, sugars, proteins, etc.

You have to know your body and what your limitations are. If you feel sick to your stomach after eating that peice of cheesecake, your body doesnt need it. Pay attention. Moderation is key in any facet of life, including dieting.
