The Myth of Testing for Giftedness {ParentDish}
May 18th 2010 12:52PM If some children are labeled "gifted and talented", what does that make the rest? My children have been placed in various gifted or accelerated classes that they simply did not excel in, and so struggled the whole year. It often seems arbitrary.
Debt settlement a 'nuclear option' that most people shouldn't consider {WalletPop}
May 6th 2010 7:53AM I entered into a debt consolidation service a few years ago and after paying 17 months, many cards had higher balances than when I started. This group made monthly payments and I paid monthly. I kept calling, asking why my balances did not drop and they advised that whomever set it up, did not request enough money from me. They also advised not to look at statements from the credit card co. because it would be discouraging and it takes time and many good faith payments made, before changes sare seen. It was reworked with higher payments but most card balances did not change, except to go up!. I quit the group and just tried myself to do it. Now I have received a letter re; a class action suit against this particular group, American Financial Solutions, who has settled for 4 million to be dispersed between all who make a claim, some justice but left me in a bigger mess than when I started...in good faith. (proof must be provided of an acct. in a certain time frame)
Woman files $54m lawsuit against Best Buy for losing laptop {Engadget}
Feb 14th 2008 7:37PM It sounds like a scheme to get rich quick to me. If this woman really cared about what she says, then she either: would've taken Best Buy to court and not have sued, or would've sued for a MUCH smaller amount of money. I don't see WHY she feels the need to sue for $54 million.
The girl who only eats french fries {Slashfood}
Feb 14th 2008 7:32PM Kids KNOW WHAT THEY LIKE. They don't just "eat whatever you put in front of them". They have brains. These parents are amazing, and I'm surprised this girl didn't die from malnutrition or get a heart attack. *rolls eyes*

Not just zero calories, but negative calories with Enviga {Slashfood}
Nov 1st 2006 10:59AM Obese people the world over, have been washing down their McGreasy with cheese burgers and fries for decades with diet sodas. One that claims to BURN calories is just an invitation to slog down that apple pie in hopes "it won't count "
