Beaujolais Nouveau and old: a tale of two wines and two worlds {Gadling}

Nov 20th 2010 3:25PM Fantastic piece yet again, Mr. Downie. I don't know what it is but wherever you write about I want to go and whatever you eat or drink, I want to try. Just now, for instance, I can't wait to discover something other than wine in Beaujolais. Hope I have the opportunity to do so soon. You are dangerous to read. I just want to keep traveling, exploring, eating and drinking!

Letter from France: Why I love Paris in the autumn. {Gadling}

Oct 1st 2010 8:41AM David Downie does it again! Whichever place this fellow writes about gets put right at the top of my list. Paris in autumn is not to be believed. I've been there several times then but never knew about the "King's Kitchen Garden." Thanks David, for giving me and my husband yet another reason to get back to Paris.

Letter from Italy: hiking Cinque Terre away from the crowds {Gadling}

Sep 7th 2010 2:56PM I would read David Downie writing about anything. Or anyplace. My husband and I are going to Italy for our 30th anniversary and this is the best reason ever to motivate us to both get into better shape. I'm sure we will also want to build a treehouse in this amazing setting and return again and again to Colle del Telegrafo. Thank you for this love poem to a part of Italy we might not have thought of visiting.
