A Message From the AOL.com Team {Portalblog}
Dec 21st 2012 6:24AM No one recalls today that the classic line: 'When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns' was purely a non-sensical bit of irony. That aside, if every school kid wrote letters to the NRA explaining what it's like to be a virtual prisoner in the classroom due to gun violence, maybe they'd get a clue. I said maybe. When you apply 'lockdown' to a public school, it may be too late.
A light sleeper's lament: six things you shouldn't do in a hotel {Gadling}
Jan 14th 2012 9:23AM As a survivor of sixteen years in the hospitality industry, I have seen all this and more. Rule #1 for me on check-in is: put a DND on my phone. Then I put the DND card on the door, where it stays as long as I do. And I always turn the lockout knob when I'm in the room. A towel stuffed at the base of the entry door will muffle many sounds coming from the corridor. And I never stay anywhere near the ice/vending room, or the elevator bank. If you're staying less than three days, do you really need housekeeping (except for fresh towels)? If you make it clear you do not want attention, the hotel will comply. And, yes, you should always tip your roomkeeper and remember: please put the liner inside the tub.
Top ten most crowded islands in the world {Gadling}
Jul 9th 2011 10:50AM Hi! I think Key West is actually less than 2 x 4. I lived there from Jan, 84 to July, 86 and I can recall cicumnavigating the island--by bike--in less than 30 minutes.
Whoops! Update from Wikipedia: Conch Republic is 5.9 sq. miles, population 25,478 in 2000. Sorry...not even close, though I admit Key West is really crowded. Apparently, 2010 data not out yet.
Kevin James on Bear Musk, Cher and Mets Futility {PopEater}
Jul 9th 2011 9:43AM Can someone please explain why this guy is so (apparently) popular? I know his bio, but I just do not get why people think he's funny/entertaining or whatever. I tried watching King of Queens (even less funny than Seinfeld, but not nearly as bad as, say, Ray Romano). I'm sure he's got his fans, but, why? What do you see in this guy?
Jennifer Aniston Sheer-ly Shows It All Off (Photo) {PopEater}
Jun 22nd 2011 8:45PM How prudish! She's smart, funny and gorgeous. And I can't even guess how anyone would think this inappropriate in any way--wait, maybe the writer is like a Mormon or something.
Kate Middleton's Change of a Dress: See Her Second Look {PopEater}
Apr 29th 2011 8:53PM Kate is just so stunning. They look genuinely happy together, in stark contrast to his parents. He needs to DO something about the hair, though, and that right soon! I'm guessing royals can't do a buzz cut.
Her sister is a hottie, too. Good luck to both of them.
Facebook Scam: Don't Click on Fake Serene Branson 'Stroke' Video {WalletPop}
Feb 16th 2011 6:51AM Of course, the obvious answer is stay the hell away from these ridiculous social networking disease sites.
Too obvious?
Walmart and Target Coming to a City Near You {WalletPop}
Feb 16th 2011 6:46AM Target: no intercom. In case you haven't noticed, at Wal-Mart, people who should never be allowed anywhere near a microphone make heavily accented, overlong anouncements.
Target: fewer screaming kids. We all love kids, right? Especially ones with absurdly high sucrose levels. I know I do so love that.
Wal-Mart puts its HBA/Pet food section far way from the grocery area. I get why, but Target doesn't, so I have to walk less the get it done.
Cable King Jon Stewart Beats Out Letterman and Leno {PopEater}
Nov 28th 2010 5:29PM Actually, a question: I have a cable provided DVR which I like a lot. I record at least 80% of what I watch. Do ratings track this? Does anyone know?
Miami's Sad Game of Jenga Toppling Over {Fanhouse NBA Blog}
Nov 25th 2010 3:21AM There may be no 'I' in team but there are two in idiot, which Heat fans (especially those forked out vast sums for tickets) should by now feel like. No one could possibly live up to the pre-season hype. It was ridiculous.
