Oct 25th 2010 10:59PM We were flying back over Columbus Day weekend - from LA to Boston via Midwest. We bought the tickets well over 6 months in advance. On the way to Boston there was one connection, and on the way back to LA a direct flight - and for $240/each you really couldn't beat it. Well since we booked the tickets, the changed our itinerary 8 times, without our consent, and one time for no real reason at all because our previous flights still existed... and eventually ended up with a red eye the night before our original flight with a connection and then two connections on the way back. After writing a scathing e-mail to Midwest, they offered to book us on direct flights. Unfortunately, the direct flight to Boston didn't work with our schedules - but we took them up on the offer to fly American direct back to LA.
So we are sitting on the plane ready to go - a little tired after seeing 3 sunrises over this short weekend trip - and we heard Welcome to Flight Xx, to Dallas Fort-Worth. Umm what?! We tell the stewardess we think we are on the wrong flight. No, she tells us, this flight does go to LA - just stops in Dallas first. So our direct flight turned out to not be so direct.
It was a highly frustrating experience. From now on we'll stick to our usual airlines and suck it up and pay the higher fare.
