Jul 29th 2011 9:28AM Ha! Great post Pam. I've struggled against the ad/click through/pop up/sponsored post wave. Sure it's a losing proposition for me but Im a writer. I want readers, not consumers. I need to keep my muscles flexed and my craft fresh. None of this seems to matter to much of the blogging reading public, but I do notice some of the blogs I love (eg www.rovinggastronome.com) are refreshingly ad-free and promoted as so. Maybe we're pre-curve?
Keep on keppin' on!
Jan 28th 2011 12:40PM Excellent post but on the Big Island, Kailua Candy Company trumps Big Island Candies (even the caramel for the chocolate-macnut-caramel honu or turtles are handmade) and the cheescake....wow. The variety is amazing too, with stuff like dark chocolate covered crystallized ginger and chocolate-passion fruit truffles.
Im also surprised you overlooked the Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory near Kona - this is the only US company growing, harvesting, processing and packaging chocolate.
Aug 22nd 2010 9:07PM Well, it's not exactly like that (gracias a dios!)
GPS systems are not permitted - stand alone, "Company" spy-type units are not permitted into Cuba. This doesn't extend to phones - hasn't for a looooong time. Just ask my amigos/as cubanos/as flashing their Apple bling (including iPads!) around town - especuladores pero bueno!
Anyone ever have a problem bringing a cell phone, or specifically an iPhone/Touch/Pad into Cuba? Drop me a line!
