The Ten Most "Thrilling" Airports {Gadling}
Jul 8th 2011 12:22PM I can think of 2 airports right now, #1: Congonhas, Sao Paulo- Brazil's old airport is built in the middle of the city. At both end of the runways, you have houses and avenues. Some years ago, a plane lost control and crashed into a gas station located at one end. #2 old airport way down south in Ushuaia (southern tip of Argentina), airport was used for both commercial and military planes. Since military planes were smaller, the airport was built at the foot of a mountain...too close to the mountain. There are photos taken from the top of the mountain were you see a commercial jet, after making a steep turn/descent, heading down towards the runway. Calling it scary is falling short of a description.
Gadling test drives new search engine Hipmunk.com {Gadling}
Aug 20th 2010 12:56PM I just tried Hipmunk just for the fun of it. I tried Miami/Buenos Aires round trip from sept 30 to aug 13 and the price : cheapest flight on LAN / with one stop 1,023$.
After this, I tried Kayak and the price was Aerolineas Argentinas for 798$.
They are going to have to do a HUGE improvement if they want business to look their way.
