12 Tips For Saving Money On Food While Traveling {Gadling}
Jun 13th 2012 3:05AM Excellent tips for saving money on food when travelling. You can also save even more money if you combine the budget friendly option of home exchange http://www.homebase-hols.com (i.e. no costs for accommodation) with cooking at least some meals at your home from home. This is particularly useful for travellers with young children as it's easier to prepare familiar foods for babies and toddlers while the adults try out new food from shops and local markets.

Ten real budget travel tips {Gadling}
Nov 30th 2010 4:15AM V. pleased to see you recommended the Guardian's excellent budget travel guide but, in your section on home exchange, overlooked the Guardian's own home exchange service, http://www.guardianhomeexchange.co.uk - run by our agency, Home Base Holidays, http://www.homebase-hols.com. As both services are based in London, we are gearing up for a v. busy couple of years (royal wedding, Olympics, Queen's diamond jubilee) when we expect many more people will discover home exchange as a great way to save money on accommodation, especially when visiting a city where hotels are on the pricey side.
Three Days in London {Gadling}
Aug 10th 2010 10:09AM You mentioned some of my favourite areas/things to do in London (as a Londoner) and I'm sure visitors with a short time to stay here will find your tips useful.
As well as a visit to Tate Modern, it's fun just to stroll along the Southbank from London Eye near Waterloo to London Bridge or, if you want a longer walk, to Tower Bridge - lots to see and places to sit with a drink and just watch the world go by. To see a lot in a leisurely way, take a boat trip on the Thames. Much cheaper and quicker than the tourist boats is the Thames Clipper service (regular service to Greenwich from the pier next to the London Eye).
If you can stay longer than three days in London, do consider a home exchange with one of the many Londoners who offer their homes for swap (and who will give you many more tips on places to see in their areas).
