Obese passenger forces neighbor on US Airways flight to stand for 7 hours {Gadling}

Nov 23rd 2011 8:36PM Well "big bill", you obviously have not considered the fact that the world does not revolve around you though several planets may well be in orbit there. I travel for a living which you obviously don't. no "small wonder" as to why, nobody would hire you for such a position as you would not "fit the bill". You see, I am a good sized man, 6'2" and weigh 220 pounds. I fit in one of these seats just fine. I don't flop over into my neighbors space and I keep to myself. That is because airplane space is sold by WEIGHT AND VOLUME, both of which you are in excess. The reason first class seats are not the standard is because you are in the minority and the rest of us don't want to pay twice as much so people like you can pass on your costs to all of the world. You are not entitled to a coach seat if you do not fit into one and you don't. I hope I am sitting in a seat next to you because I WILL make an issue of it and I guarantee you that with my frequent flier miles and airline status on numerous airlines, I will get the seat and you will have to buy a second seat if they cannot fit your gerth into another space on the plane. It is really sad that you take such an arrogant approach Bill because if you read my story below a few entries, you would see that I am am a compassionate person. Not when it comes to people with your attitude though. Expect to be paying more. Nobody is descriminating, you don't fit in the space, just like overhead luggage has to be a certain size. If it don't fit, it aint going on. Perhaps if you large gerthed people started your own airline, you could have things the way you want them but you do not have the right to impose on others and you willk find yourself paying for first class or a second coach seat here in the future as the airlines book these flights at or near 100% capacity almost all the time now. The real problem is refusal of Bill to accept the fact that he is not capable of fitting into the space and does not have the right to take the space another person has paid for. You will learn that soon enough.

Obese passenger forces neighbor on US Airways flight to stand for 7 hours {Gadling}

Nov 23rd 2011 8:22PM This just happened to me last month and I have traveled 25+ years for a living. I was on an American Airlines flight. When I checked in, my seat was 10-A. When they scanned my ticket at the gate, the guy handed me a different boarding pass that was 10-B. I asked him why I was being changed from window to aisle and he siad "That's just how it worked out." When I got on board, I found out. There was a massive gerth of a woman seated in both 10-A & 10-B, armrest up for her comfort and to allow her rolls and half her ass to occupy what was supposed to be my seat. Not only had she thrown a hissy fit and demanded a window seat resulting in their picking me as the victim (it was easiest for them to swap her and I since she had 10-B originally), but once they appeased her selfish demands, she plopped her huge mass down on BOTH of our seats. Being polite, I walked a couple rows past and then turned around and went back up front as I did not wish to hurt her feelings or make a scene. I asked the first class flight attendant to please go look at what was supposed to be seat 10-B and see if she felt there was sufficient room for a human being to sit down in or if I was being unreasonable. She returned and acknowledged that there was no place for me to sit. The head flight attendant also verified the situation but they were unable to help me as the flight was oversold. My only leverage was to remain on board at the flight attendant's station in first class while they tried to figure out what to do.

Enter moron gate agent (from India or similar country - I will call him Hodji here) who had changed my seat in the first place. He comes down the jetway and asks what I am doing and I told him I was waiting to find out what American Airlines intended to do about the situation of selling me a confirmed seat on the flight and not providing one. Out of complete idiocy, he tells me to get off the plane so someone else can claim the seat. At this point, the flight attendants and I are rolling our eyes because he obviously would not listen to a word we said. They told him there was no room for me to sit. He starts yelling at me to get off the plane because they must make an on time departure. I asked "What about MY on time departure?" He started threatening to call security. I asked for the flight attendants names. I also asked the man what he intended to do if I chose to assist American by getting off the plane. He told me he wouldn't promise anything or any help. So I asked him why I should get off the plane if he was not going to help me. He kept saying "someone else sit there." I finally got a little stern and said "Mr., the ladies ass is blocking the entire seat, there is no place to sit, do you understand me?" He goes into left field again on making his on time departure. I wished the flight attendant's a pleasant trip and got off and went to a gate agent at another gate and explained my situation. I told her I fixed American Airlines problem and was counting on her to now fix my problem of needing to be on the next flight and that I really appreciated her help since Hodji had been completely useless not to mention insulting. She booked me on the next flight like 2 or 3 hours later. No apologies, no compensation for my lost time. That Hodji man came up after making his on time departure and I calmly asked to speak to him now. He STILL did not understand that there was physically no room for someone else to sit down. He was truly a moron and should not be in customer service.

The bigger (pardon the humor) problem is fat people imposing on the space the rest of us pay for. An airplane is a confined space transportation device that seels space based on weight and volume. When a person exceeds the volume of one seat, it is not the responsibility of the adjacent passenger to get up and stand the entire flight. We do not encroach on the fat person's space and they should not encroach on ours. They are not entitled to a "coach" seat price if they do not fit in the confines of one seat, period. Either buy a seat up fron or buy two seat in back. They do not constitue one person when they do not fit in the seat cushion and they sure as hell don't have the right to take up ANY portion of another passengers seat. I had experienced situations like this before, but never this bad. Hope you never have it happen to you. It will be interesting to see how American Airlines resolves this with me.

It Happened to Me: The Worst April Fool's Day Prank in the World {MyDaily}

Apr 1st 2011 12:53PM Alison's picture appears to be while on a boat or something like that so personal comments on her appearance are pretty lame guys. That aside, to think that this guy whom you had probably been spending almost every day with for the last 2-3 months was suddenly going to tell you about "another woman" or his getting another woman pregnant, or even worse, an STD is way off course. A little less personal opinion and the workings of your own mind may be good advise.

AEG Jumps into Race for NFL Team in L.A. {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Nov 17th 2010 3:50AM Hmmmm, sounds like someone is a little bitter about losing that National Championship to the Texas Longhorns that year. Or is it that they couldn't stand having to watch a heissman trophy being returned. Talk about bitter!

Yankees Fly to Arkansas to Woo Cliff Lee {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

Nov 11th 2010 10:37AM Yep, Sabathia, Teixeira, Granderson and Rodriguez all did you guys a lot of good this year. Half of those players came from the Rangers (Tex & A Rod) That is probably half of your payroll right there in those 4 players. But that's OK, you did the same with Wells when he got fat and fizzled out (bought from Detroit like Granderson). The bottom line is NY tries to buy teams, which has never been a sceret. We can all thank Finley from Oakland for starting this trend in the 1970's. Steinbrenner just chose to pay more and continued this way for 30 years. It doesn't take skill to buy players, it takes skill to secure players at a price that makes sense for each teams budget and then to coach and manage those players to get them to play at ehir highest potential.. This is where NY falls short every time.

Teens Storm Abercrombie & Fitch Store to Protest Toxic Perfume {Lemondrop}

Oct 2nd 2010 11:25PM I find their clothes to be extremely good in terms of quality. Much of the merchandise is very high priced so I only buy the stuff for my kids when it is on clearance. You can tell if an outfit is from A&F in most cases so I find the trying to associate the product with a scent a bit overbearing. The mosic has ALWAYS been annoying simply becasue oif the volume - it is hard to discuss whether or not to buy something with my kids when the music is blaring out. I also find it annoying that they strive to portray such a skimpy dressed or sluttly appearance. They seem to have appeal to the teenagers but the prices and peer pressure tactics in having the "right look" is a bit too much. The prices are out of hand so just don't buy it til it is in your price range. Aeropostale has the best prices though the clothing quality is not as good as A&F. American Eagle also has better prices though they are higher than Aero. My observation is that A&F has been hit hard by the recession and sales are way down. They have had a lot more sales and clearnace prodeucts this past year. Maybe the recession will result in less perfume and lower decibels in music!

Paul Wall Beats Fan Up With Microphone {The Boombox}

Sep 29th 2010 12:19AM ballin, you are a mroron and typical of what is wrong with our country. The fact that they PROMOTE this type of lifestyle IS A PROBLEM. They try to glamorize it to kids who are impressionable and looking to society beyond their own four walls for direction. These retards are only too willing to offer them the crappy life of thugdom that they chose for themselves and they have NOTHING to offer society or our comunities.

Sep 29th 2010 12:16AM Sure seemed to raise some emotions with that pot didn't ya? You know, it is funny how people outside of the Texas/Mexico border have no idea what a fence jumper or river crossing rat are. Being a porch monkey does not refer to one particular race, rather a group of people that sit their ass on the porch and want free handouts from the working class. They come in all colors. We despise them all for their traits and uselessness and lack of contribution to society.

Midair Crash Narrowly Averted {AOL Travel News}

Sep 24th 2010 6:03PM One intelligent comment up there thus far and a few good ones. Reserve opinion until we have heard the NTSB findings. If the guy did noit turn it could have been for multiple reasons. He may not have received the communication, he may have had a flug of canadian geese in his path or his plane may have failed in air and not followed his commands. If it ends up being pilot error, you bet there will be a suspension but let the investigation take its course.

As for life in MN vs. Joisy and Virginia, Minnestoa is an awesome place. Winter is cold and winter sports are a blast. Summer is absolutely beutiful beyond anything you will find. Joisy has great outdoors as well as does VA. Each place has its own advantages and disadvantages. The one thing I will say is that the crime rate in MN pales in comparison to that in Joisy or VA. All points of view from a TX person who has traveled this country over many times and spent many weeks in each of these places.
