REPORT: Rural roads more dangerous than congested urban areas {Autoblog}
Oct 8th 2009 8:11AM In the La Crosse, WI area...kids driving drunk on rural roads leads to 3am rollovers with death frequent. 4 at a time, occasionally. Drinking is surely the leading cause of highway deaths...and city as well. In Wisconsin you can have 4 DUIs before being jailed. A week in jail would be fitting for a first DUI...
Breasty Pirate Enrages Local Priest {Asylum}
Apr 7th 2009 8:38AM Since God is only a fantasy...priests ought to be as well.
Hot Seat: Convention Obama {Politics Daily}
Aug 29th 2008 8:18PM Obama is the first visionary to come along in quite a while. He has a high degree of intellect and his charisma is felt through the world. America needs such a leader. Let's not let America down by electing a man from the oligarchy whose claim to fame is being a prisoner for 5 years. As fifth from the bottom of a class of 599 at Anapolis, one must wonder at his ability to lead. Let's elect a man with both a heart and a brain...Obama.
With Photoshop a Click Away, Can Photography Be Trusted? {Switched.com}
Aug 24th 2008 4:32PM Neither photographs nor reporters (editors) can be trusted. News is very often falsely reported...then corrected...then corrected...then corrected...ad infinitum. The public doesn't give a damn is something is first and exclusive. Only competing so-called journalists. Really...who gives a damn. The first time one sees or reads some report...is the first time for that individual, though the report or photo be days or weeks or months old. Nope... journalism itself has lost its value...its import...its clean face. It's all gone.
Hot Seat: Is Obama a Fake Christian? {Politics Daily}
Apr 15th 2008 2:16PM I would prefer an Athiest as a President. Athiests are thinkers. Athiests are capable of more rational decisions. (Witness the current President who discusses his decisions with his imaginary God.)
We don't need another like him who is about to put us in a war with Iran. He'll kill 2-3 millioin in that war, all to satisfy his ego needs. Of course, he'll wage that war in the name of his God.
Grapes of Galilee, Using Jesus To Sell Wine {Luxist}
Oct 9th 2007 1:26PM Since Jesus is a fictional character (there is no evidence for the existance of Jesus) I don't see why the character should not be used commercially. I doubt a trademark exists on the name, but that's not a bad idea.
Band on the Run: No Silver Spoon, Just Stainless Steel Please! {Gadling}
Aug 23rd 2007 11:29AM As I, you are not used to upscale. In Ft. Lauderdale last year my bro-in-law and I went to a public golf course for a nine hole walk, where I was told I'd have to change from my tee shirt (probably one touting Swarthmore College or a smiley face...or..) to a shirt with a collar. I could buy one there for $30 or so... We found a lower scale course, of course, not that that one was any big deal. Just not used to the high society scene, I suppose, where non-conformity is not on the menu.
Just imagine, Ember, if someone had taken a picture of the facade of your hotel...and there was a blemish in its pristine appearance... They'd lose customers and be the laughing stock of the Island.
Jobs might be lost and bandruptcy looming... Tragic. FOX pick up on it and would couple you with Lindsey, Paris and Brittany....and you might be sent off for rehabilitation to some Los Angeles rehabilitation resort where it could all begin again...
Band on the Run: Trippin' in O'Hare Airport {Gadling}
Aug 21st 2007 1:33PM The matter of presidents traveling ought to be taken up by Congress. They spend huge amounts traveling for campaigns. They clog up airports, plane schedules, and city centers (They hate for a President to visit in Manhatten) and cause delays of all sorts. Congress should mandate that Presidents remain in DC unless pressed by vital matters relating to his or her actual job. They have the pulpit from DC every day...don't need to show up here and there for public relations and campaigning. Important schedules of tens of thousands of people are altered due to the whim of some politician's need to shake hands. Silly and it ought to be regulated, by common courtesy if not by law. We have a right to gripe and ought to do it more vociferously.
Band on the Run: Sister Servant (Stag & Doe) {Gadling}
Aug 17th 2007 7:45AM Steve.... the beautiful part of the wedding is the public committment of the couple to dedicate their lives to each other..... that can't be caught on film but will be reflected every day for years to come... especially when children come along..
Band on the Run: Sister Servant (Stag & Doe) {Gadling}
Aug 16th 2007 4:00PM You just reminded me of another reason I dislike weddings (beside the commercialization of them)... raising cash at a drunken bash... (You can use that line for a song...) In my early years of being a photographer I was enticed by cash into photographing a wedding or two and the ensuing receptions.. Basically, I was aghast at the level of childish (no, just dumb..kids are smarter) drunken goings on. The "boys" stealing the bride..the drunk bride...and taking her off to some place unrevealed... for what purpose I don't know.
And so forth... OK.. just venting... I photographed kids at their worst... and then they drive home?
I hope your sister's wedding is dry and civil and truly, warmly happy. There's so much to look forward to if booze doesn't get in their way, becoming a way of life as it does with so many these days.
