Jan 26th 2012 11:11PM Gosh, I have yet to see a moose in the wild although we spent weeks at a time in Idaho's panhandle. I realize they can be dangerous but I'm still envious of seeing those giant creatures! We live in Virginia, incidentally.
Jul 18th 2011 8:43PM The last time I visited SOTB was in 2003; it had become dumpier and dirtier with each visit. But that's part of the dubious charm. If it was fixed up, it would probably get something like a----gasp----AAA star or diamond rating. Keep it crummy but at least clean the bathrooms. I was in Wall this year and they work to make it tidy.
May 26th 2011 2:09AM So many of the Idol finalists and winners are in the "where are they now" category: Fantasia, Ruben Stoddard, even Elliot Yamin...only one or two big stars have lasted: Underwood, maybe Daughtry. Too many have gone through the washer and dryer of fame and came out shrunken and wrinkled.
Apr 14th 2011 6:39PM Maybe it's the photo, but her eyes look as if they been tightened/lifted. I would love to see a closer-up photo. That being said, her body looks fab, not flab, for 54. Good for her and kudos for a gutsy movie role.
Mar 14th 2011 5:09PM Lisa should have been a bit more proactive to wrest control over the team, such as when she seemed reluctant to give the final proof approval of the cover; which she eventually did. Dionne was totally ignorant about Marlee. Star was too wily for her own good. I wouldn't be surprised if things get more physical. Trump would love to referee a girly-hairpulling session.
Feb 25th 2011 3:20PM Soon-to-be-princess Catherine has figured out a way to do the required hat gigs without looking dowdy. Good for her! Just keep it simple because poor Diana got conned into some really dreadful bouffant-y stuff in her early post-marriage years.
Feb 25th 2011 1:41PM My husband and I did a traveling ministry and slept in our car cross-country hundred of times. Our strategy? Truck stops are very attuned to sleepers and are generally secure. Typically, their showers are nine or ten bucks and they don't mind couples sharing the room (you do get two towels). Rest stops have hit-or-miss bathrooms and sometimes you'll have to be a bit more alert to those around you (ministry work does not mean being careless). Most state/county parks offer overnight parking for cheap, but National Parks do require heftier entrance fees on top of camping fees and have length of stay restrictions. Ditto for private campsites, can be pricy. Changing underwear every day or so will fake you into feeling cleaner and you can do a sponge bath routine under the pits quickly. We're coffee drinkers and tried to brew it with small heating coils but it's a little messy, so we often "splurge" for the fast food senior-rate joe; 50 cents or less. We found sleeping bags to be great and warm to pull over us, and they can be rolled up easily. Remember, the less you pack, the more room you'll have in the car/trunk.
Feb 7th 2011 12:07AM There are some incredible vocal soloists in the military who perform at the White House and other venues. Why not have one of them perform next year and in doing so honor the military at the same time??? Poor Christina couldn't hack it this time. I'm reminded of our State Fair's pig races where every year there is a porker called Christina Hog-uilera in the running.
Jan 25th 2011 2:47PM Hey, talk about snubs...the Academy should have hired Ricky Gervais as emcee but went for bland nice-nice hosts instead. Would have loved to see Ricky, Part Two of his slamfest.
Oct 7th 2010 10:25PM My husband and I are going as a donut and cup of coffee. Last year we were bacon and eggs and the year before that, salt and pepper. Much more creative than the choices listed above!
