Orso Restaurant Closing In Los Angeles {Luxist}
Nov 9th 2009 4:47PM This little submission is merely a tactic to drum up business while the owner changes his restaurant's format. The article says the same owner has filed for a liquor license for a new restaurant in the same location! Hello-o-o! It's the same guy gonna be running a restaurant in the same spot. It's just a makeover. That's what they do in LaLa Land.

David Spade apologizes, sort of, for exploiting his dead buddy {WalletPop}
Nov 2nd 2009 10:59PM Having followed David Spade's career for a long time, I cannot see any foul in this commercial at all. I did not see Spade as exploiting Farley in this and I think Farley would have supported Spade. Farley would likely take his inclusion in the ad as a nod and a tribute to an icon more than as purely an ad instrument. In fact, using Farley's posthumous image elevates him in ways by further acknowledging him as being so inconic as to deserve to be treated as public domain, even when he isn't actually legally that yet, as far as I know. Of course this was done with Farley's estate's approval, so no foul there either.
Gordon Ramsay Done With 'Kitchen Nightmares' {Slashfood}
Nov 2nd 2009 2:21AM I'm sure a lot of restaurant owners are breathing a sigh of relief because Ramsey will no longer be putting a spotlight on all of the bad habits involving poor sanitation and improper food care found in many restaurants. I have become completely disillusioned with restaurants for years. Nobody knows how to cook anymore! I cannot remember the last time a restaurant served an entire meal worth eating. There is ALWAYS at least one item that is crap and not worth eating. Remember when everything on the plate was edible in the past? It's just hopeless these days. Lazy cooks, uneducated morons, indifferent staff personnel. The only good restaurants these days are the really high-end restaurants and that's it! But, I'm a good cook myself, so I save the cash and do it myself at home. Why not?
Best '50s TV Shows (10-1) {Inside TV Blog}
Nov 1st 2009 10:25AM "Show of Shows" number 1? It was a really funny show, but I smell a little Carl Reiner/Mel Brooks schmaltzy influence being thrown around here. Also, YES, I too remember "Super Car." I loved that show when I was a kid! I'm not sure it belongs on the list, but it was a great show for little boys who love cars and puppets.
Spike Jonze Slaps Kanye for Texting {Popeater}
Nov 1st 2009 2:28AM Yeah, me too. I had hoped it was going to be someone getting to him and really letting him have it. Too bad. I'm sure his bank account is taking a beating. That's where it is going to hurt for the rest of his punk-assed life.

Nine-Year-Old Oliver Wahlstrom Scores Incredible Shootout Goal in Boston {Fanhouse NHL Blog}
Oct 19th 2009 8:05AM This is what is great about kids. They are fearless! Sure, it is a trick shot that he practiced. But, he had to guts to try it and he nailed it! It's like a really good skateboard trick that you keep trying until you get it just right. Way to go, Ollie!
Alicia Silverstone Quit Counting Calories - With Her "Kind Diet" {That's Fit}
Oct 19th 2009 12:41AM Obviously not many people have been impressed by this article aside from advertizers. I find that counting calories actually works best for me. If I keep a consistent daily goal of a specific calorie target, it isn't that hard to stay on track and eat what I like to eat. If I know I plan on indulging by going to a restaurant or something, I adjust the rest of the day accordingly, including skipping a meal if necessary. It works and it doesn't hurt to skip meals as long as you don't overcompensate later all at once. It's a great way to burn off fat. I safely lost 30# in a year by sticking to a diet of approximately 1,000 calories per day and it worked. I gave myself a little latitude of 100-200 calories per day, and I continued to reduce or hold steady from week to week. When I splurged on candy, cake, or high carb items, I simply cut out other things for the day, but I still indulged in fun things to eat without blowing it or starving myself. One thing that did work well for me was snacking on almonds (any kind) and carrots. Otherwise I ate from all of the food groups and tried to watch high carb items like bread, rice, and pasta without cutting them out entirely. It really IS the total calorie intake that matters if you are trying to reduce. To me, that is just as simple as it gets. Once you know how many calories foods have (most are labeled) it isn't that hard to keep track in your head over the course of a day.
Kristen Stewart Bites {Cinematical}
Oct 16th 2009 12:46AM This story is really reaching. Biting lips in two films makes headlines.
