Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa debuts "World's Spiciest Drink" {Gadling}

Jun 5th 2010 11:39AM I must admit that I love a good Bloody Mary. And I've had some fabulous ones in my Bloody Mary career. However...last week I ordered one that literally burnt my mouth, my tongue, my lips and made my eyes water just by bringing the glass up towards my face! I (literally) can still taste it and it's been a week! It was, I must confess....huge! It also had wedges of Lime (as usual), HUGE green olives (not usual, but great), and chunks of something I "though" (operative word here) was Zucchini. Now I LOVE when a Bloody Mary is made with White Horseradish and asked the waitress if theirs was made with it. She said it was. It arrived in a TAAALLL glass, frosted and looking and smelling absolutely deelish! However, I took one sip and thought my whole body was on fire! You know those "chunks of Zucchini"? Well....they were chunks of fresh HORSERADISH...and there was also grated horseradish mixed in the drink along with all of the other usual spices. Somehow, I managed to drink 1/2 of it but boy, oh boy...that was SOME experience! If anyone is interested, we dined at The Sand Bar Restaurant in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. My friend was smart, she ordered a frozen Pina Colada...but it was very disappointing. Next time I'll stick with my usual Dirty Martini.
