10 tips for road-tripping with your dog {Gadling}
Jan 6th 2012 2:46PM I take car trips with my dog all the time. In addition to the tips posted here, some others for consideration:
- You cannot enter the US with an open bag of dog food, or any dog food that's not made in the US. So if you're a Canadian who is US-bound, buy your dog's reg food while in the US.
- I always seek out hotels that are pet-friendly like Ace, Westin, Fairmont, etc..., in other words, traveling with a dog does not equate to 1-star motor lodges. {For this reason, I never do blind booking sites like Hotwire or Priceline when travelling with 'nacho'}
- And finally, like you mention, exercising your pup is ultra important on the open road, so I use it as an opportunity to get to know my destination on foot!

Ask Gadling: How can I make camping more comfortable? {Gadling}
Aug 4th 2010 3:08PM Love Ed's comments about camping in style. Why not?
One thing I hate about camping is having to get up 1 - 4 times (yep) in the middle of the night to pee. I've now devised a system so I don't need to leave the tent involving ziplock bags. Just don't fall over or mistake it for apple juice.
Also, re: the cooking comment, there's a GENIUS cooking-while-camping app called coleman cookout that has recipes like muffins in an orange shell and s'mores burritos--both done with foil--read about it here: http://bit.ly/9MheqJ
iPhone 4 - what it means for travelers {Gadling}
Jun 8th 2010 12:27PM So excited about iphone 4. Bu-bye blackberry. Most pumped about 5 Megapixel camera flash, but on-phone video editing is pretty swanky. alas, we have to wait until July for the iPhone to release in Canada. Maybe I'll have to become an early adopter and get mine in the US!
Ask Gadling: Getting the most (hotel) bang for your buck {Gadling}
Jun 2nd 2010 12:26PM Great article. Further to the point about hotels and packages, most people shy away from hotels like Fairmonts due to price, yet Fairmont offers something called Great Rates on the first Tuesday of every month. Great Rates are a selection of Fairmont's hotels at prices in the $99 - $159/night. You get access to these rates by joining their free loyalty program. The rates last for a week or until they are sold out. I've taken some amazing vacations at Fairmont 'great rate' prices.
