Aug 16th 2008 12:59PM I love the Daily Show and John Stewart, that being said, I was offended at the off handed way he through in "my son thinks that is so gay" during the interview with Ben Stiller. Does he let his kid use the word "gay" as a put down? John Stewart should know that he has a gay following and while I understand that truly no one is off limits in the show, he was talking about his home life and his child. He shouldn't let me think that in his house it is okay to belittle and discriminate against people that are different in general, and gay in particular.

Apr 2nd 2008 1:30PM Wow. I guess that makes Tom an idiot (not for his opinion but for being a pompous jerk who gives his opinions like they're facts). Perhaps he is a gay man and these jokes don't bother him, that would be worthy of discussion. I am a gay man and I was bothered, that is also worthy of discussion. Hopefully there will be a time when gay people are treated fairly and a joke will just be a joke. Currently that isn't the case and a joke that hurts someone take on malicious overtones, and makes people that are left out feel even more so.

Apr 2nd 2008 12:28PM As a point of information. "Playing around with stereotypes" is directly derogatory and homophobic. The fact that he didn't know this shows how seemingly very enlightened people aren't aware of how their actions and words affect other people. It is just like Imus, but some people can't see that because they still think it's okay to make fun of gays and lesbians.
