Sep 26th 2010 12:37PM After years of the same old 20 pounds and Drs telling me that all was well every yr at my physical, I KNEW that the difficulty of keeping off weight and like you just LOOKING at something that pounds would jump on I researched further. I undersand the society we live in aobaut fast food, lifestyle etc. But in my case,It was not about blaming (me, the dog, the husband...)but it was about *answers*. If a calorie is a calorie, is a calorie, I knew what I was doing at the gym, I knew what I was eating-vegatarian, low carb, organic-I mean I was totally acountable. And I know that is first and foremost- that people need to come to terms with accountablility..but when EVERYTHING is being done it is time to tell your Dr AND yourself, I am doing everything, now what???!!! In my case it was my thyroid-yes, "within range" but I ALSO had a dr that actaully tested for presence of antibodies that can cause hypothyroidism-even when you are 'within range' it can cause probs. there is SO much info out there about weight loss but not much of it address's coming from a overall hormone and thyroid panel. Hormone meaning- estrogen,progesterone and testosterone. Your thyroid "TSH" can be low end without going into *hyper* mode (graves disease.) Weight loss is still a sloooow struggle but at least I am armed with the correct info to know the battle and fight with the right weapons.

Aug 17th 2010 2:37PM As a mother of three kids, this is so true in our home. The *gifted * first born daughter dropped out of college (just returned this semester after 8 years of struggling). But finishing an engineering degree now.
The "clown" middle one, while very smart in his own right got a yr of college under his belt and went into the military and is finishing up his degree and applying for Officer Training school. He scored very well but not as high on the standardized tests as his older sister...And my youngest who is very bright but did not score off the charts on standardized tests is the only one who finished his college degree and is working in his field! He always seemed to notice what the others were doing and charted his course early to not have the same struggles. This subject is so facsinating to me, however, as a parent you love them no matter and are proud nowhat their intellect is! :-)

Jul 16th 2010 9:03AM I have ALWAYS wanted dreads! LOL!!! I am a white, green eyed, blond, 48 year old gramma and hope that one day I have the courage if even for a short time to do this!!!! We travel to the Caribbean twice a yr, so I "get it". I LOVE yours Asha, but you must have some serious neck and arms muscles to maintain these hahaha
