What to pack in a carry on - ten things Gadling readers actually use {Gadling}
Dec 16th 2010 8:26AM Foam earplugs! Roll 'em up, put in your ear, and hear the sound level go way down as they expand in your ear! They reduce the airplane "slipstream" noise. Target brand works best from my experience.
Toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, ziplock bag of kitchen-cleaning wipes to clean your tray table and your hands, reading material (Kindle!), clothes - everything in ziplock bags. (Sit on the ziplocks as you seal them to get all the air out). It can be done - everything you'll need for a 5-day trip in one carryon bag.
Airlines to federal air marshals - get out of our first class cabins and sit in coach {Gadling}
Oct 3rd 2010 4:49AM FAMs - Federal Air Marshalls - are prone to the same behaviour that politicians exhibit, and that other federal law enforcement types demonstrate. Namely, their egos get in the way, they feel that their federal credentials entitle them to sit in the forward cabin, and they presume that they will always be so accomodated. From JFK to Mumbai, are they really going to be so willing to sit in Economy?
While the TSA's screeners suffer from "mission creep" in thinking they are actual law-enforcement officers (they are not) entitled to bully people, the FAMs simply got big-headed and lost sight of their purpose.
Multiple FAMs on one flight? One goes in viewing distance of the flight deck door, the others get scattered around the aircraft. Only one onboard? He/she should be in the forward cabin, with a view of the cockpit dooor.

May 4th 2010 5:44AM Where have you guys been hiding? How did I miss finding your website? The three of you are a great team - intelligent, humorous, knowledgeable, creative, and very interesting.
What else can I say? Great choice of advertisers - all relevant to what we love doing: traveling and exploring. The website is beautifully designed.
I'll be back later to continue my own exploration of all that is on here, and to view more of your Travel Talk videos!
Outstanding work! Keep it going!
