How do you stop Nepalese airport workers from taking bribes? {Gadling}
Jul 1st 2009 4:36PM This explains why the security guys at KTM tried to convince me that it was illegal to take Indian Rupees out of Nepal. I played dumb and they eventually gave up.

Misery works: airlines making money on baggage fees {Gadling}
May 15th 2009 9:36AM I hate to sound like an airline apologist, but saying that the airlines are making "extra" money is quite misleading. The airlines have simply shifted some of the price of a ticket to baggage fees. Instead of everyone on the plane paying $10-20 more for their ticket, people who choose to travel with more bags are paying $15-25 more. As someone who usually travels light, I appreciate this.
The fees also create an incentive to travel light. Weight plays a big role in how much fuel a plane burns. Less fuel = less emissions = happier environment.
So yes, the fees are annoying because they are a change from what we were used to, but in the end, they reward those of us who happen to pack light.

Oct 7th 2008 12:12PM I'd use the ticket to travel for school. We go to New Delhi, Shanghai, and Brussels. I'm sure my bank account (read: student loans) would appreciate a free trip.
Gadling goes camping (win free Coleman stuff!) {Gadling}
Aug 25th 2008 11:03AM By far, my favorite camping experience is paddling the boundary waters in Canada. Going through customs on a lake, depending on nature for food (outside of the "survival" food we brough), pitch black at night, complete silence, beautiful scenery. Just awesome.

What's your preferred seat position? {Gadling}
Feb 19th 2008 4:11PM It'd be interesting to have height information to correlate with these results. I'd imagine tall people (like myself) are much less likely to recline as they've had their knees knocked a few times.
Side tip: If you can't stand someone reclining into your "space" grab an exit row seat. The FAA requires that reclining be disabled on seats the would recline into exit rows. Plus, you get a little extra leg room.
