Proposed casino near Gettysburg National Park denied license {Gadling}
Apr 17th 2011 4:18PM When opportunity knocks you must answer one way or another. It would be nice if the people that wanted to build the casino could relocate their plans to at least five miles away but that isn't as easy as people think it is and sometimes it's not possible. Yes, it would create jobs and revenue for a local region that is hurting financially. But as many of you have stated in your comments, "This is hallowed ground." I have mixed feelings though, about "hallowed ground". One thing you learn in life is that "nothing is that sacred that the living will go without". Every civilization that has taken over another one has built over that other one's so-called "hallowed ground". It has never really stopped us before and when a really pressing need to build over hallowed ground comes about again in the future you can be sure we will build over, under, and through it. It will all depend on who and how many are in "need".

CBS' Jim Nantz Chastises Tiger for Behavior at Augusta {Fanhouse Golf Blog}
Apr 14th 2010 9:42AM Dear dewyb 1:
Respect for the game, as in the Masters that was sponsored by Augusta National Golf Club, the same club that allowed their first and only black man to be a member in 1990 and to this day refuses to allow membership to a woman? That sounds like a lot of respect. Isn't this the same game that for the longest time wouldn't allow people of any color to play professionally or join any of the "nice" country clubs in the country? That's right, after Tiger won his first Masters didn't one of your respected golfers moan about having to probably eat fried chicken (winner picks the entree) at the next years dinner? Respect for the game my ass you pitiful, blind, narrow minded idiot! Billy Payne (Chairman of Augusta) is lucky Tiger didn't blast him for what he said about being a role model when Augusta is one of the most bigoted places in the country. Tiger shouldn't be playing there anyway until they change their. But he can't help being the house boy and bringing them ol' rednecks the ratings they would never have without him. I guess he figures, "If dem ol' rednex wanna pay me sum big munny den I figger I jus go out an play me sum gof. Hehe. Watermelon anybody?"

Apr 14th 2010 9:15AM Jesus Christ Nantz, you don't get it do you? You are a sports announcer. You aren't allowed to use that kind of language while one the job, duh! It's in your job description and probably on a contract somewhere that you signed. Tiger Woods on the other hand isn't contractually obligated to watch his language while he is doing his job. On top of that your network is either being invasive or stupid to have the microphones turned up loud enough on any player in any sport to pick up that type of language without broadcasting in delay. Do the networks really think they are giving us a special treat by letting us hear the players in action, id est micing players in the NFL during games, etc? How about giving us better announcers instead? Also, the last I heard this was the land of free choice and Tiger doesn't have to live up to Phil Mickelson's standards and vice versa. Get a life and quit your bandwagon jumping and quit pretending about being concerned about Tiger's bad language. You are an announcer not an actor and the pretense makes me lose all respect for your integrity as a person. As if you've never heard athletes cursing while at work; you are a phony!

Apr 13th 2010 12:27PM Come on folks. There are so many signed bands and artists out there that you'll never, I repeat never know who all of them are or even have heard of all of them. It doesn't make you cool or uncool one way or the other. Even folks that work at their own record labels (the big ones) can't tell you all of the artists they have signed to their own label. If you don't know who this band is then check their work out. If you like their tunes then consider their breaking up a loss for you. If you don't like their material then you haven't missed a beat. Or, you can just say, "Whatever." and move on. No need to be a hater. Peace!

Apr 11th 2010 6:22PM Dear Carol4kids:
Actually, Elin Nordegren Woods is from a wealthy and powerful Swedish family. When you are from a wealthy and powerful family and all you can manage to accomplish by your early twenties is having been a part-time model, store clerk/cashier, or nanny (her last previous job before meeting Woods), then either you don't have much to offer or you are just an unmotivated person wouldn't you agree? My guess is that she was a pretty girl from a rich family most likely looking to cash in on her good looks and family connections to hook a rich man. She didn't even know who Tiger Woods was nor was she interested in dating him when she first met him through golf professional Jesper Parnevik, whose family (also Swedish) she was working as a nanny for. After she learned of his status, his celebrity and the amount of his wealth she managed to somehow "allow" herself to be "charmed" into finally submitting to a date. It must have been his great personality that got her to change her mind, eh? After all, he has shown that he can certainly charm the ladies. Or could it possibly be his money that all the ladies are charmed by? What do you think? As for leaving him because of infidelity, there are worse things than can happen in a marriage than that. It seems to me that if you love someone enough you can put your pride away and take one for the family. It's not like he's physically beating her or the kids or not putting a roof over their heads nor providing for them. He had extramarital sex. That's not the deal they agreed to when they exchanged wedding vows but it shouldn't be a deal breaker unless your pride is bigger than your love or you are just looking for a reason to get out of your marriage.

Apr 11th 2010 9:39AM Dear Carol4kids:
I never said Elin Woods deserved to be cheated on or that he deserves to cheat on her because he is rich and famous. I merely pointed out that her life before Tiger was that of a girl with a pretty face, a fairly nice physical build and not much else more to offer. Perhaps she had a pleasant personality. Lucky her for now having more opportunities in life because of his hard earned money. First of all, you DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT KNOW for certain that his wife Elin really loves him or ever really loved him. Having a man's children doesn't mean you love him either. Fortunately for her it does put him first in line for financial responsibility for the support of those kids (if they really are his kids) and because she would probably be granted primary custody (because most women are) she would be put in control of the money given to support those kids. She must now weigh her options and make a decision. If their family together and real love for Tiger are truly her main concerns then she will forgive him and they will work things out or she will learn to live with his extramarital affairs. If she doesn't "really" love him then she will expose that fact by leaving him. But why is it anyone else's concern unless they are family members or financially tied to the outcome of the situation?
