Cockpit Chronicles: Landing an airline pilot job just got harder, but here's one way to do it. {Gadling}

Jun 30th 2011 6:58PM Thank you so much for this article. I am in a similar position as Jeffrey. My challenge is my age. Im in my early 40's and debating whether I should continue with my training or not.

Does the airline industry really consider JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater a hero? {Gadling}

Aug 16th 2010 6:06PM After 22 years of flying as flight attendant, I can say this guy was totally un-professional and furthermore I am shocked to find other flight attendants supporting this guy. He is an absolute embarrassment to our profession. Like other flight attendants, I understand the triggers. However, that in no way gives him the right to take the actions he did when he is paid to do a job. As the saying goes "If you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". Which, effectively, he did but at the cost and reputation of Jet Blue. Very unprofessional. Worst part, thanks to media, he will walk away with a ton of money and that will encourage others to follow his actions.

Galley Gossip: 10 Smart travel tips from women around the world {Gadling}

Apr 2nd 2010 12:27PM I have been travelling for 24 years as a flight attendant. The notion of wearing a fake wedding ring and engagement ring is ridiculous. If anything, it WILL get you unwanted attention especially from the thieves. They are trained to spot jewellery, electronics etc... at the tourist spots.

That being said, number 1 is an absolute rule to live by.

May I add another rule:

Dress like the locals when possible. I have seen so many tourists who insist on wearing the Hawaiian shirt or wearing the baseball cap of their favourite NFL team. This is a beacon, again, for the thieves that hang around tourist resorts.
