Airlines losing 3000 bags - every hour of every day {Gadling}

Mar 28th 2010 4:07PM What I don't understand is why the airlines don't poach people from UPS or FedEx and offer them a bunch of money to streamline and improve their baggage handling systems. You look at the number of packages that UPS deals with around the holiday season and the mind-boggling array of vehicle transfers and routing instructions and they put the airlines to shame. If the baggage were treated like packages in the UPS or FedEx systems it is highly likely they would get to where they're going.
