Recaro launches new ProSeries child safety seat line {Autoblog}

Aug 6th 2010 10:27AM I've got the Recaro Como (which looks a lot like the one on the right above) for my daughter, and it's an awesome seat. Other parents are always impressed when they see it - it's just a lot better-built than the crap people are buying at Wal Mart.

The only downside is that it's BIG. That protection comes at a space premium. It fits great in my Element, but small cars without much back-seat room might have a harder time getting it to fit.

NYC seeks Taxi of Tomorrow; is UniCab the answer? {Autoblog}

Jun 1st 2010 10:36AM It seems like about once a year we see some new concept for a NYC cab of the future, and then another year goes by with them using Crown Vics and a few odd minivans and other jalopies.

I just spent 2 weeks in the UK, and I've got to say that the London Taxis are pretty damn fine taxis. They're made just for that purpose, and meet pretty much all of the criteria in the article. I don't get why they can't buy these with the steering wheel on the other side and use them in the US? Doesn't that make some sense? We could even manufacture them in the US under contract to the UK firm and save import taxes.

But doing the same space-age crap every year is just stupid.

Officially Official: Acura releases Canada-only TL A-Spec {Autoblog}

May 13th 2010 7:41AM That's the first thing I thought too - you just beat me to the punch. I'm just sorry I had to wade through 3 pages of little girls whining about summer tires to see it.

Art Deco Mullin Automotive Museum set to open April 15 {Autoblog}

Mar 5th 2010 12:29PM That's just an achingly beautiful car. I so wish design was that important these days. Imagine if a modern luxury brand came out with something like this - forget faux-retro, really recreate a classic design like this with modern underpinnings and I'd buy one.

Maybe I just need a better kit car...something that rides on a Lexus instead of a mustang or beetle.

Engadget giveaway: win a huge box of stuff from Josh's office! {Engadget}

Mar 3rd 2010 8:47PM I'd like a bunch of this stuff please. I'll even share.

Chumby One review {Engadget}

Nov 13th 2009 9:59PM Sorry - that comment was more directed at the people who see a screen on this thing and think it's going to be a great media player/home server/Doom-playing machine, etc. It's a very good internet radio box, a pretty good alarm clock, a really sweet piece of hardware if you're a hardware hacker, and fun to look at when you've got the channels set up.

Like I said in the original post, I like mine. I'm probably going to buy at least one more, because I fit into that 10% that have a use for it. But if all you want is an alarm clock there are better options available.

Chumby One review {Engadget}

Nov 13th 2009 1:11PM I was one of the early adopters on the Chumby, and still enjoy mine. I'll probably pick one of these up for an alarm clock in the bedroom.

The big thing to understand with the Chumby is that for 90% of people, it's not useful. It's a toy, and as long as you're setting your expectations accordingly you'll be OK. I have 100 different widgets cycling through my main channel - everything from webcams around the world to clocks, weather, news, goofy stuff, games, etc. It sits on my work desk and is a nice distraction over the course of the day.

I'm sure if I was really motivated I could get it to do more cool stuff. But as it is right now, it's a good piece of flexible, open hardware that is easy to justify at $100. That's a couple of bar tabs for me, so it's not such a bad deal for a really cool alarm clock or widget player.

Oct 15th 2009 12:08PM Only a year behind schedule and $10 more than they were planning to charge. yay.

VIDEO: Citroën remixes its 90-year history for celebratory commercial {Autoblog}

Oct 6th 2009 3:45PM That shot got me too. I had a '79 CX, and always referred to the dials as "bathroom scale" speedo and tach. I miss driving that car, but don't miss working on it ;-)

iTunes 9 bringing iTunes LP functionality, 'beautiful new look' {Engadget}

Sep 9th 2009 4:02PM That's what I was looking for. It's freaking unbearable dealing with iTunes on Windows lately. I click, wait 15 seconds for something to happen, then click again. The software isn't bad, but it's so sloooowww.
