Why Are the Girl Scouts Hiring Models? {Lemondrop}
Jul 30th 2010 10:54AM This is great and I'm sure it'll be helpful to a lot of girls' self esteem. But ultimately it doesn't really matter. The opinions you need to change are men's. If men constantly ignore the girls it doesn't matter how awesome girls are told they are. This lack of self confidence comes because women and girls are told the only way to get the man of their dreams is to look a certain way and men solidify this with the women they idolize and chase.
Unfortunately until the taste of men in our entire society start to shift, it won't matter how many PSAs or adverts you put out there for women. Men will continue to ignore the more 'normal' girls and always dream about the 'perfect' ones.
Either way this is a step in the right direction. The only way to climb a mountain is one step at a time.
Don't Park in Austin: a long-winded travel tale with a moral at the end {Gadling}
May 6th 2010 1:32PM $25 is very normal for parking in a downtown area. Boston included. I have paid $20 or more to park in the financial district of Boston. I've paid that and more to park in Old City Philadelphia as well. It does suck, but when you've driven downtown and can't find street parking it's your only choice. Paying 5 bucks to park in a lot out in Marblehead or something isn't the same as Boston...
BREAKING: Spirit Airlines to charge up to $45 fee for carry-on bags {Gadling}
Apr 6th 2010 8:55PM I am 100% OK with this and hope every airline follows suit. Now I won't get yelled at by someone trying to stuff their giant carry-on in when I checked mine in and put my backpack in the overhead to get some leg room. Although what airlines really need to do is just raise ticket prices across the board. Service would improve and people would be less angry by getting hit by somewhat hidden fees.
