This is nonsense. In order to remain under adverse possession, the squatter has the burden to prove that he has openly claimed ownership of the house for 7 years. Unless there is something here that we haven't been told, he will never be able to do that. If he is not the owner by adverse possession, then he is merely a trespasser. Throw him out!
Aug 16th 2010 8:51AM There was nothing to indicate that Johnson's ball came to rest in a "sand trap". Nobody wants a major golfing title to turn on the enforcement of a dubious technicality. The rule should have been: "Sandy areas that do not appear to be prepared as traps are not hazards and clubs may be grounded." The dummies were the officials, not Dustin Johnson.
Apr 24th 2010 2:15PM For 40 years, the Federal Government has neglected its responsibility to enforce the immigration laws of the United States. These are the most generous immigration laws in the world by far, allowing lawful entry to more aliens than any other country in the world permits. But everyone knows, or should know, that limits must be enforced. It is up to the people of the United States, not to people of other countries, to decide who may come here and in what numbers and under what conditions. For the government to ignore the express desires of the American people is a serious deriliction of duty. It is against that background of federal government failure and inaction that the recent steps taken by Arizona must be understood.
Dec 10th 2009 9:52PM Grossly obesity is a choice, not a natural condition. Anyone who turns himself into a disgusting butterball should pay the price for his inflated girth. The best solution for such people is to stay at home, rather than cause visual distress to the rest of humanity. If fatties insist on flying, let them pay for the space they use. If they cannot walk down the aisle, they should be banned entirely on safety grounds. Such people should also be removed from health insurance rolls unless they pay additional premiums.
Dec 6th 2009 9:23AM Illegal aliens should be deported, not hospitalized. The reason why they come here in the first place is because of the benefits they are given once they arrive. In California, awash with illegal aliens and bankrupt as a result, illegals can send their kids to school and get free medical care. Is anyone surprised that they are swampting the state? Why is it necessary for Americans to act and think like idiots? Nobody truly believes in this kind of half-assed "liberalism" (socialism), but everyone wants to give it lip-service. Grow up, America!
Dec 1st 2009 4:59PM This isn't a matter of party politics, but basic principle. By releasing Clemmons, Huckabee showed that he has no understanding of justice, no concern for public safety, no grasp of deterrence, no sympathy for Clemmons' victims. I am a staunch Republican, but I could never vote for Huckabee after this. A weak sentimentalist is not suited for the White House, any more than a pacifist or a utopian. Let him teach Sunday School, if he wishes, but stay the hell out of practical politics, which requires people made of stronger stuff.
Dec 1st 2009 4:21PM Jailhouse conversions are a dime a dozen. If we begin letting people out of prison because they say they "love Jesus", everyone will say, "I love Jesus." What we know about Clemmons is that he was a violent offender. On that basis alone, he should have stayed under lock and key. Neither Huckabee nor any other Governor should play dice with public safety on the basis of a prisoner's declaration of faith.
Oct 24th 2009 6:06PM "Yale researchers say" is sufficient to discount the rest. Is there anything
that Yale researchers haven't said?
Oct 23rd 2009 9:45AM Put aside the media BS and you see that Bush and Cheney's terror policy was supremely intelligent and successful. By comparison, Corn's idol, Obama, is a rank amateur who is justly scewered for dithering. For years, Libs - who know nothing about military and security matters - have been yakking about how the US should take it to the terrorists in Afganistan rather than Iraq. Now they want to chicken out of the Afghan mission. Is anyone surprised? Essentially, people like Obama and Corn are pacifists and pacifists get lots of people killed and cause lots of wars.
Aug 26th 2009 10:53AM Kennedy, a big phony liberal nonentity, will be sorely missed by Obama and his pals, but the rest of us are glad that he's gone. He is a perfect example of how personal depravity mixes nicely with liberal idealism - which is depravity in a tuxedo.
