Booking a Flight from New York to San Francisco Online. But Where Online? {Gadling}

Aug 9th 2007 4:22PM I also find myself booking direct with airlines more and more these days. A great resource is ITA Software's search engine (they develop the tools that major airlines and fare aggregators use). They allow the public to use their tools so that they can refine their product. It's not that pretty but extremely powerful. The pull results from Orbitz, etc. and the airlines directly. They provide all the fare codes so that you can also work with a travel agent or airline on the phone to get the best possible prices. Also great for consolidator fares, mileage runs, etc... If Apple made...everything {TUAW.com}

Jul 3rd 2007 4:00PM # 3 the "iPot" ;) (I guess none of you have any experience with "growing your own". The sprout in #3 is in fact a teeny baby pot plant!).

Toshiba's TransMemory flash drives reach 16GB, go U3 {Engadget}

Aug 30th 2006 7:56PM You guys at Engadget always amaze me how far behind the curve you are when it comes to flash storage. Supermediastore have had a 16GB thumb drive on sale for $420 for a while. It's been available for at least a couple of weeks when I bought my last 4GB drive from them on sale for $45! My advice to you, always check them before reporting on any other "breakthrough" in flash capacity.

Gizmo Project makes all VoIP to landline calls free. Forever. {Engadget}

Jul 20th 2006 6:36PM Don't forget that the man behind Gizmo is none other than Michael Robertson who created mp3.com and turned into a $360 million pay day for himself. Not bad for a site that catered exclusively to a bunch of whining bedroom artists. Robertson revels in being a shit stirrer and flying in the face of the establishment. Gizmo is his newest pet project (Linspire is another of his that is doing quite well) and should not be underestimated. He will make so much noise and piss of the big guys so much that they'll have no choice but to buy him out. Once that happens, bye bye free calls.

Buffalo drops 4GB USB drive {Engadget}

Jun 23rd 2006 3:50PM My fav place for all things flash is SupermediaStore http://tinyurl.com/8ksft They are offering multiple 4 gig options for between $85 and $120. You can get an 8 gig flash drive for $199 and if you want to go hog wild they will sell you a 16 gig drive for $500. Looks like Buffalo need to work on their pricing a bit.

Of cases and boomboxes {The Digital Music Weblog}

Mar 1st 2006 4:35PM "A specified range of 20 Hz to 20 KHz for anything small that doesn't hang on your head is obviously false..."

My Cambridge SoundWorks Model Twelve (not much bigger than the Apple Boombox) has a freq. response of 45hz to 20khz - It is truly a thing of beauty.

Anyway, my problem with yesterdays announcement was that Apple had the gall to use the word "audiophile" when taking about a boombox! I'm sure their unit sounds fine but, enough with the misleading statements.

-Bob.

BTW - I am an avid Apple user (I have 3) but would NEVER buy an iPod or any other audio component made by them. There are way better options out there.

Of cases and boomboxes {The Digital Music Weblog}

Feb 28th 2006 5:34PM Brad,

As far as not criticizing the boombox until you hear it, I was almost in agreement until I checked the specs:

Frequency response: 53Hz to 16kHz ± 3 dB

Ouch! This will have "audiophiles" frothing at the mouth. 20hz to 20khz is the bare minimum for anyone remotely interested in good audio gear. For me bass doesn't even start getting interesting until you go below 50hz.

Loudeye is happy to still be in the game... {The Digital Music Weblog}

Jan 7th 2006 4:22PM Not that it makes much difference in grander scheme of things, but the press release states that December sales were up 200% over the same period in 2004.
