Ariel Castro's Cleveland Home Becomes a 'Tourist Destination' {AOL Real Estate}
May 18th 2013 6:42AM Warren - This is not a liberal-conservative issue. It is a tragedy without political connotations. It's possible Mr. Castro was one of those eccentrics nobody wanted to deal with. Reports state he did not allow others in the house or at least not in specific areas of the house. He participated in community events that focused on at least one of the girls, his daughter's best friend. Who would have known? Except for the time a neighbor reported her daughter had seen naked women crawling across the yard (!) there didn't seem to be reason to suspect him of these horrible crimes. Boarded up windows should have brought a code enforcement officer to investigate but not the SWAT team because, because again, not really suspicious behavior. The great thing is the women and girl are now free of his control. Only hope they are able to work through their issues surrounding 10 years of captivity.

10 Tips For International Business Travel {Gadling}
Sep 17th 2012 10:16AM In addition to carrying copies of your documents and cards and leaving a set with family, scan copies to your email account. This helps considerably in case everything you are carrying is lost or stolen and/or no one is available at home to respond to your immediate needs. Internet cafes are available around the world, so those copies of documents and cards are just a few clicks away.
If your passport is lost or stolen, and if possible, check the government website to determine the requirements for a replacement passport before going to your embassy or consulate. You may be able to complete the form on line and print a completed copy to submit. Photos are necessary so, if necessary (if not taken at the embassy), take the appropriate number (and size) of photos.
Trouble Blooms: Condo Board Sues Resident Over Flowers {AOL Real Estate}
Mar 21st 2012 2:48AM Although her flowers are beautiful, if her covenants, conditions and restrictions (CC&Rs) restrict/prohibit planting in public or common areas, she obviously needs to follow the rules or she'll end up with huge legal fees, which she already has. Somewhere along the way, she received a copy of the CC&Rs and they became part of a binding contract.
These restrictions/rules are part of developments to guarantee uniformity through the project. Even though she landscaped before the complex was finished, she was told, by the developer, that she may need to remove them in the future. Months of letters and assessments later, and she now has a lien clouding her property title. Tough to sell until she pays the liens.
Perhaps Ms. Bois could dig up the plants and put them in pots in a private patio area, if she has one, or leave with a family member or friend until she can rent out or sell the condo and move to a single family residence without CC&Rs.
Obese passenger forces neighbor on US Airways flight to stand for 7 hours {Gadling}
Nov 23rd 2011 5:44PM @Kimberly, the passenger could have taken a Greyhound or walked to Philadelphia, too, and still "... got where he was going." The fact is, he paid for a full seat, not a partial seat, through a purchase contract with the airline. The airline voided that contract by not providing him with a full seat.
The seat mate was obese. He needed two seats and paid for one. Period. This isn't a matter of political correctness. The man knows he is obese. Both passengers paid for a seat, and one passenger required two seats for his girth. He should be made to pay for two seats on a plane with adequate seating to accommodate him.
Giving the passenger a $200 credit is grossly inadequate to compensate for this blunder on the part of the airline. If he had never before flown on a commercial flight, then perhaps he wouldn't understand the necessity of using two seats. It was the responsibility of the check-in agent to inquire about the seating once he or she saw the size of the obese man. I don't know who the obese man was trying to fool when buying one ticket but the airline personnel had the responsibility to "call him on it" and demand he buy two seats to handle his girth.
