Cockpit Chronicles: Video—Food in the cockpit. How it's prepared and what is served {Gadling}
Oct 16th 2011 2:15PM I used to fly bush Alaska.(Almost like the show) One time I was doing a charter for Red Dog mining company flying employees in and out. I took on an extra flight to get some last minute people out. The mess hall, staffed by top notch chefs, gave me a take out box of food for doing the extra flight. I flew the people out, and on the trip back to Kotzebue, I opened the box. I found several different types of sushi, a fresh (fresh is rare in the bush) vegatable salad, a fresh fruit melody (still rare) and two peices of cheese cake. (also rare in the bush at that time) I was flying a 9 passenger twin, and that was the best meal I ever had in an airplane. Another time I flew the mail into a remote military base in northwest Alaska. The people were very happy to get their mail as well as new movies. They gave me a brown paper bag for lunch. As I was flying back I looked and saw fesh bananas, sandwiches, chips and 2 cans of beer. Well, alcohol is forbiden at bush military operations, so it was a real honor to be trusted by the men to not tell where the beer came from.
Top 5 ways to annoy your airplane seatmate {Gadling}
Jun 23rd 2011 8:30PM I always greet the lead flight attendant, then announce that I am terrified of flying, I get airsick easily and I have been drinking for hours. That seems to get a real laugh from the FAs. Oh, it also worked while I was in uniform. (former airline pilot)
Jaleel White on Playing Steve Urkel, Being Dissed by Bill Cosby & More in 'Vanity Fair' {theBVX.com}
Jun 18th 2011 11:53AM Thats funny, when I watched 'Family Matters', I saw an American family trying to live and survive. I saw family supporting each other and children being raised by responsible caring adults that were good role models. I didnt watch the show just because it was a black cast. Sure they had whacky nieghbors but who doesnt? It is good to see that Jaleel is doing well. Not in and out of rehabs and reality shows. Thank you Jaleel for the entertainment you have brought us.
Iranian aircraft crash caught on new video {Gadling}
Jun 4th 2011 12:12PM Cant tell why it crashed. If the plane lost power it would still glide to the ground as long as the air speed is good. As a side note, Mr. Martin, more people are killed in car crashes everyday than in one year of flying. Might want to rethink that next time you get into a car.
