Unfortunately, the school is an arm of the government and the government wants a monopoly on force and so is obligated to infringe on this Citizen's constitutional Right to defend herself. At least 50,000 American soldiers have been killed or maimed because of Bush and Cheney's lie about Iraq being a threat to the US. And what about Truman and the guy that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and evaporated 100,000 women, children and old people. He should at least get an honorable mention, don't you think?

Oct 15th 2010 8:49PM I think it is okay to have a girl as a friend only if you already have a girlfriend and are involved in an intimate relationship otherwise there is a chance that you will get frustrated with a girl as a friend unless she is introducing you to her friends that are single. Otherwise it is just a waste of your time while she gets the benefits of your protection and chivalry.

The bus driver didn't protect her. If it were my kid getting bullied and I saw it, I would get the names of the kids and have a pow wow with their parents. Sep 21st 2010 4:30PM Their "Player Protect" program is doomed to failure just like the designated driver strategy is a failure. The fact is most people don't think clearly after intoxication with alcohol and make poor judgment decisions. The only way the prevent sports players from driving intoxicated is to mandate a breathalyzer in their car that would only work at night so as not to infringe on their freedom to run errands or go to practice during the day. Just the fact that it is in the car changes the behaviour of the driver and keeps them honest.

Jul 14th 2010 8:40PM Most friends I've accumulated over the years have been people who I have gone to school with or worked with. Seldom do you get a friend just meeting them on the street. It's usually while engaged in some other activity that you both happen to be involved it that creates the environment for a friendship to develop over a period of months if not years. These so-called "Facebook" friends that this girl is talking about seldom don't last long because there are no roots to the relationship.
