Mar 3rd 2012 11:27AM Been there. The problem is the deadbeat brother and the court system. The home care services needed are not available to the ordinary American, trust me I tried everything. My mother lived in squalor the last 6 yrs of her life due to a similar situation. I did not have the money to pay for the services needed and if the house was liquidated she would lose the few services she got and run out of money very quickly. My retirement savings went into legal fees and trying to keep my brother and mother afloat. Every elderly person deserves to live where they want but unfortunately they don't always get the care they need. The mother has a legal right to keep the dead beat son in the house even if she is easily coersed by him. Adult Protective Services is useless. Don't condemn Peter. There are two sides to every story! The question is if this woman remains in her home will she get the care she needs and not be paying for her son's beer and cigars?

Dec 1st 2010 6:10PM I have a brother that is mentally ill and has he done this to my elderly mother, who has dementia. They have lived in a world of paranoia for the past six years. As for his brother, Dennis being able to help I doubt that very much. It has cost me a large portion of my retirement savings to deal with the court system to protect my mother. Adult Protective Services was useless. The real problem is that because of personal rights the mentally ill are allowed to run amuck in our society and not get treament.

Jan 23rd 2010 11:38AM You got to be kidding me!! The mc has been around for centuries in ireland, scotland and the United Kingdom. It originally meant "son of." Perhap all us mc's should sue mcdonald's for infringing on our heritage. Give me a break! What is this world coming to with big corporations stepping on the little guy?
