Rhino Population On The Rebound In Nepal's Chitwan National Park {Gadling}
Apr 10th 2013 4:41PM Glad to hear this! Had an up close view (10's of feet maybe) of a Chitwan Rhino a few years ago and can say it was one of the most amazing moments of my life.
A Traveler In The Foreign Service: A Guys Road Trip To Transylvania {Gadling}
Jan 24th 2013 12:48PM Great story. Brings back memories of the road trip I took in a complete circle around Romania. One of the most notable moments was drinking Palinka (home brew) at a pre-wedding party with a group of twenty something's related to some people we knew back home. After that they took us around to all the "clubs" to show off their Canadian friends. Then stumbling back drunk to the finest/oldest hotel in Satu Mare at about 3 AM.
Romania can be a dreary place but all in all the heart of the people will warm you up. Also, you will find some most incredibly kept historical treasures (and you can get UP close to them), unbelievable views/scenery and practically no other tourists to contend with. Not only that but compared to other eastern European countries it can be really cheap.
Tim Leffel On The World's 21 Cheapest Countries {Gadling}
Dec 12th 2012 12:17PM Nepal is definitely really cheap, however, if you're hanging around Pokara or in the tourist areas of Kathmandu it is not. They get a lot of tourists in those places that want their idea of western accommodations and food and believe me those $0.50 Thali meals quickly change in to $20 burgers.
Travel Warning Issued: For Canada? {Gadling}
Sep 27th 2012 10:44AM It does sound pretty ridiculous and is likely retribution. However, you have to consider that the US just dropped MEK (a terrorist organization that targets Iranian civilians using assassination and suicide bombs) from the terror list. Canada is about to do the same and there is a good chance that their camp Ashraf in Iraq will be moving west. So theoretically Iran is correct. Canada and the US is about to give safe passage and harbour terrorists.
How did we all feel about that when it was the Taliban and the people being housed were Al qaeda? Was a travel advisory given there?
Chicken Pizza Masala (Fancy Pizza Hut) -- Fancy Fast Food {Slashfood}
Oct 21st 2010 2:21PM I've actually had that pizza at Pizza Hut in India a few weeks ago. The one thing I noticed was they used barely any cheese or tomato sauce on any pizza there and were more then liberal with the masala. Also, if you are going to make this Pizza make sure you wash it down with Masala Lime Ice Tea (take a regular lime ice tea and dump about 2 table spoons of Masala mix in it). Finish off with some Pepto Bismol.
The other thing I noticed is how upper middle class Indian people eat there (it is very expensive by Indian and even western standards) to experience western food (sans beef obviously) but then have the employees doing Indian Bollywood dances and asking the customers to ring a huge gong when they leave. What an odd experience.
