Is your hotel room really clean? {Gadling}

Jan 6th 2010 10:06PM This is a touchy subject. But, since I'm versed in the "pest" industry hotel rooms are always on my radar screen. Bedbugs is a very hot subject right now. Be sure to gently pull the covers/blankets or whatever may be on your bed up slowly. You can't miss the little bedbug critters if they are there. Also, look around and under the pillow(s), as well as look around the edge seams. These are the typical areas one will find them on the bed. The other area is the bedboard, most htel bedboards simply are attached to the wall and easily lift off, this is another area of concern.

By now you are probably wondering about all of this, but let me tell you normally you will never know they have biten you as they secreet an anesthetic as they bite you which numbs the area and you don't feel the bite. Another important fact is the reason they hide in the areas I described is because they can get to your skin rather easy from these hiding points.

By the way usually these pests have been transported by the tenants that stay in the room. It's not because the hotel is necessarily unsanitary.
