Aug 18th 2011 12:52AM I've had several awesome cats that had odd food tastes. My polydactyl loved oranges, marshmallows(as toys and food), and green beans. My tortoise shell loved nachos complete with deseeded peppers and decaf iced tea(but only from my glass). Brando and Myles, both just strays i rescued that turned out to be awesome, loved tea as well, corn on the cob, Myles liked gummy worms and jelly beans. I'm going to admit that Brando loved to lick Lindt chocolate (his vet knew and said licks were fine) salad with thousand island. My current cats are all odd. Chip eats potato peels, Patch eats beef jerky (but only with me), Panda eats bananas(peel and all) doritos, and Bo, well, Bo eats anything that doesn't eat her first.

Jul 12th 2011 1:20AM The practice of dining with the dead is fairly common in Mexico, the Yucatan, and South America (mostly in the more indiginous groups), Tibet, parts of China,Buhddists in India and much of Southeast Asia, and Japan and Okinawa. I learned and observed in the 80's while my family was stationed Okinawa. Religion and death ritual in particular are frightful and fascinating, just wish my kids weren't so uneasy around cemetaries, etc. The Victorians in the U.S. also did cemetary meals, but it wasn't as common and until the advent of public burial grounds, few entered unless they had to, as space was limited and bodies were stacked to the point that some were merely casket lids covered with a 1/2 foot of soil in the churchyards of London.

Jun 29th 2011 7:20PM First of all, Patricia, herpes would have been detected in the mother with prenatal testing and there are precautions to prevent spread to the child (usually the cross infection is spread through vaginal delivery) in the form of C-sections. Leprosy is not even a major disease these days, s it is completely curable through modern medications. Second, genetic disease testing is possible but only for a limited range of diseases (tay-sachs, spinabifida, for example) with conditions like this, they are so rare that they do not recieve the funding to develope testing in utero, and since neither of the parents showed the symptoms, more than likely they believed their child wouldn't either (as stated his 5 year old sister wasn't affected) or perhaps they didn't know and in cases like that, they wouldn't test for it. You would be shocked at how much genetic garbage and diseases from early stages of human immunodefiency you carry in your dna...usually it just sits there, completely dormant, but every once in a while, due to mutation something from the past will suddenly appear, such as this baby's condition.
So, while you finish high school, make sure to take a biology class or two. Then at community college, stick to something that will keep you away from the normal human population, lest your ignorance pass on to future generations.

mean I have heard a few of the atrocious audio nightmares that he and
his genra call music, and after some thought the only conclusion I
could come to is that 50 Cent is at the very least functionally
illiterate.

Jun 20th 2011 8:16PM The greek word for cemetary is "Necropolis" necro meaning death, polis=city.therefor, city of the dead. Cemetary is actually an Anglicanized word with Latin roots.

Jun 20th 2011 8:10PM it was not uncommon in times past for schoolteachers to be buried on the school property. nor is it uncommon for the "official limits of the cemetary" to end at the school property line. Western superstition holds that disturbing the dead, even by simply walking through the churchyard, would bring dire results upon the offender. Christianity frequently encompassed pagan superstition silently while publicly denouncing it, even to this day, you will find odd yet regurly practiced holdovers (blessings when sneezing are most common, but in Amish areas, you'll see large pentagrams on barns occassionally because of fear the family has been cursed) . Many times though, school yards were also part of the church, so would have been sacred ground. Depending on the time it occured, a suicide would be buried outside church held grounds, and usually at a crossroads. Being buried on the schools grounds meant she was actually held in fairly high esteem.

Jun 20th 2011 7:54PM Japan has a yearly festival called Obon where people go to the cemetaries and crypts and dine amongst their ancesters. They also clean the bones, perform traditional acts of reverence, and in the evening, they float candles into the lakes, rivers, etc to symbolize the ancesters return to the afterworld.
