Dec 24th 2009 12:06PM Budapest is The city of caves and not just the city of spas, because approximately 200 large & small caves can be found under the capital. The caves were formed by springs that supply the thermal baths. Some of the caves are strictly protected and 3 are open to the public: Pálvölgyi cave; Szemlőhegyi cave; and The Castle cave, (which I think Garret refers to). Yes, it is a mixture of both natural and artificial structures but has an interesting history and may be enjoyed by some.
