Is there any way they could somehow convert the energy source there to solar or wind instead? Disasters as this prove the hazard is not worth the risk to the planet or people. If only some kind of paint or sealant could be put on the buildings to make it safe again, the land around restored for more crops and forests. Help reverse it from a ghost town.

Trying to generate energy from stilled water is a poor reason when more is possible from turbines placed with protective screens having the water flowing. To irrigate fields makes sense, yet from where?: To put water pulled from somewhere else would be better spent on sprouts of what makes rain and snow, water, more trees. Chunked icebergs melted to carefully irrigate will in turn impact regions where found for full season return,and nature in turn making the planet rainy for some time into snow again once the balance is back in order. To reroute water into areas where the water was not before causes everything to change. This site where they found the old town, having yet to see the topographical data, howcome these people cannot simply relocate the pooled water area?
