Jul 25th 2011 3:14PM In Star Trek, they got around the light speed barrier by using "subspace", essentially changing dimensions to a universe where the laws such as the light speed barrier didn't exist. With scientists discovering different dimensions all the time, transitioning between the dimensions seems plausible.
There is also the possibility of "space bending", essentially folding the galaxy in on itself and passing from one point to another.
