Galley Gossip: A flight attendant responds to the first class orange juice debacle {Gadling}
Dec 12th 2009 10:17PM Dearest Shauna,
How little you know of what you speak. Let's start off by leveling the playing field. TSA "agents" don't even have to have a High School Diploma in order to be employed by the TSA. How uneducated you sound. Who is going to save your behind should something go wrong on the airplane? Do YOU know where all the fire extinguishers are? Do YOU know how to disarm all the doors? Do YOU know where all the emergency medical equipment is and exactly how to use it properly? A flight attendant is there to do FAR more than to open sodas and smile.Who is charged with the responsibility and duty to handle an unruly and/or violent passenger,another passenger? The pilot? Nope! A Flight Attendant. A flight attendant undergoes approximately six days a week of class and psychological screening, for nearly two months before they're even allowed to set foot ON an aircraft to work it. Often times the TSA get an attitude from Flight Crew because the TSA feels an unqualified need to "pretend" they have more authority than they really do. So, the next time you feel so inclined to comment on something neither your friend or you knownothing about, perhaps ask someone more qualified.

Dec 12th 2009 9:54PM Kimberly... Please get your facts straight before you choose to comment on something. Approximately 25 percent of persons flying in the "First Class" cabin have actually paid for a First Class seat, the rest are there either because of an upgrade, or because they're a member of another airline and put up there as a courtesy.

Dec 12th 2009 9:51PM How witty you sound, did you think of that retort all on your own, or did your trilermate help you out. Get a life. Oh, and if I'm using too big of words for you, feel free to look them up. Thanks!

Dec 12th 2009 9:45PM How uneducated you sound. By the way, Flight Crew is EXACTLY what the FAA calls a Flight Attendant. Who do you think knows better what they're classified as, them or you? Seems like a no-brainer to me. Who is going to save your behind should something go wrong on the airplane? Do YOU know where all the fire extinguishers are? Do YOU know how to disarm all the doors? Do YOU know where all the emergency medical equipment is and exactly how to use it properly? A flight attendant is there to do FAR more than to open sodas and smile. So you're an enlisted person, so what? Who is charged with the responsibility and duty to handle an unruly and/or violent passenger, another passenger? Nope! A Flight Attendant is just as equipped to diffuse a situation than some passenger feeling his duty to intervene and try to pick a fight. A flight attendant undergoes approximately six days a week of class and psychological screening, for nearly two months before they're even allowed to set foot ON an aircraft to work it. So, the next time you feel so inclined to comment on something you know apparently nothing about, perhaps ask someone.
And by the way, I do not, and have never worked for a commercial airline, and even I know what I'm talking about.
